Teaser Tuesday: The Fine Art of Murder by Emily Barnes

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of A Daily Rhythm. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
Share the title and author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

Teaser:
The Grand Cherokee was only a few months olds with less than five thousand miles on it when he died. Neither Lizzie nor I could bear to look at it back then. But we couldn't part with it, either. So it sat on his side of the garage until I sold our house, and then it got moved to Lizzie's garage. When our grief finally turned to acceptance, we both felt comforted knowing it was there.
This week my teaser comes from The Fine Art of Murder by Emily Barnes. This is one of Crooked Lane Books's February releases. Here is the description from Amazon:
Former Police Chief Katherine Sullivan has been called brilliant, brave, compassionate, and quirky, but after decades of crime fighting, this resilient grandmother with an artist’s soul is discovering that retirement can be just as deadly as being on the job.

When Katherine returned to her hometown, her only thought was to comfort her recently divorced daughter. That was before a young woman was found murdered on the estate of the town’s richest family. Now, in order to track down the killer, Katherine must uncover the generations of secrets that at least one person as already killed to protect in this charming and smart series debut, The Fine Art of Murder.

  6. I enjoy reading books with older characters (maybe because I'm an old character myself!) so this book is definitely appealing.

  8. This sounds good. That cover had me thinking a historical. I like it when the main protagonist is an older woman. Helps me connect and nice for a change:)

Thanks so much for visiting my teaser.

  9. Hee hee. I know how that feels with a car. Just got rid of a car that I'd had for about 13 years. It was sad! There were a lot of memories tied up in that vehicle! It was older than my daughter! This teaser evokes that feeling nicely.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today!
