It's Monday! What Are You Reading? (Dec. 11, 2017)

It's Monday, What Are You Reading? is now hosted by Kathryn at The Book Date.

It’s Monday!  What Are You Reading is where we gather to share what we have read this past week and what we plan to read this week.  It is a great way to network with other bloggers, see some wonderful blogs, and put new titles on your reading list.

I will be combining my YA and adult reading and purchases on this one weekly roundup. YA and middle grade reviews will still be posted on  Ms. Martin Teaches Media - my other blog.

Other Than Reading...

After predicting it all week, we finally got between one and two inches of snow Friday night which happens to be less than Atlanta. Our television news thought it was funny that an inch stops Atlanta in its tracks and is barely worth mentioning here. It does look a lot more like Christmas with the ground covered with snow though.

It was a quiet week. I did some more Christmas shopping midweek to avoid the weekend rush and putting up the tree has at least gotten on the agenda. My brother and I have been having a discussion about where the tree should go since last year's location is now covered with bookshelves and won't work this year. We'll see where it ends up.

I have entered into a time when I'll be reading lots of review books. I added seven new ones this week. I have already read and written reviews for seven January releases but I have eight more still on the stack to read. February is another month packed with review books. I have 19 on the pile. I'll still be trying to fit in books from TBR mountain but I don't know how successful I will be.

Read Last Week
The Turncoat's Gambit by Andrea Cremer completes her Inventor's Secret trilogy which comes bines alternate history and steampunk into a great adventure. My review will be posted on Jan. 5.

Unearthed by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner is a review book that begins a science fiction trilogy and was an engaging story. My review will be posted on Jan. 3.
The English Wife by Lauren Willig was a review book which was a historical mystery. I thought this book was excellent with great characters, an engaging mystery, and a wonderful depiction of 1899. My review will be posted on Jan. 6.

A Wedding at Two Love Lane by Kieran Kramer was a traditional romance but with more characterization than is usual. My review for this upcoming release will be posted on Jan. 3.

A Mortal Likeness by Laura Joh Rowland is a historical mystery from my review stack. This one was also entertaining and really made the time period come to life. My review will be posted on Jan. 4.

Currently
What Doesn't Kill You by Aimee Hix is also a review book. This is a contemporary Romantic Suspense title.

A Treacherous Curse by Deanna Raybourn (Review; Jan. 16)
Year One by Nora Roberts (TBR pile new arrival)

  1. I cannot imagine living in a place covered with snow every day until April! How do you stay warm? How do you drive?

  7. Yay for snow! We only got a dusting as well, but I was happy. :) We only put up a little tree this year, as kiddo is getting into everything. Lol. He absolutely loves it though, I can't wait until we have the regular one up next year.

I love the cover for The Last Girl on Earth.

    Have a great week!

  8. It does look more Christmasy with snow on the ground, I agree! And it looks like you have a busy review schedule coming up! I'm interested in both The Turncoat's Gambit (steampunk!) and Unearthed.

  9. We haven't done any shopping here. If it were to snow here, things would definitely stop. It only snows about once every thirty or forty years. What we really need is rain. Thanks for stopping by earlier.

  10. It looks so magical with snow though it must be frightfully cold as well. Christmas in the tropics is nice as well.

  11. Great looking books. It's always so hard for me to juggle my reviews, but January and February are already looking like busy review months.
