Review: Kiss of Snow by Nalini Singh

Kiss of Snow
Author: Nalini Singh
Publication: Berkley Hardcover; 1 edition (May 31, 2011)

Description: Since the moment of her defection from the PsyNet and into the SnowDancer wolf pack, Sienna Lauren has had one weakness. Hawke. Alpha and dangerous, he compels her to madness.

Hawke is used to walking alone, having lost the woman who would've been his mate long ago. But Sienna fascinates the primal heart of him, even as he tells himself she is far too young to handle the wild fury of the wolf.

Then Sienna changes the rules-and suddenly, there is no more distance, only the most intimate of battles between two people who were never meant to meet. Yet as they strip away each other's secrets in a storm of raw emotion, they must also ready themselves for a far more vicious fight...

A deadly enemy is out to destroy SnowDancer, striking at everything they hold dear, but it is Sienna's darkest secret that may yet savage the pack that is her home-and the alpha who is its heartbeat.

My Thoughts: What a great episode in the Psy-Changeling series! Fans of the series have been waiting for Hawke and Sienna's romance and I don't think anyone will be disappointed. The story was filled with romantic tension.

Hawke and Sienna are both strong, sympathetic characters. Both have their problems too. Sienna has a very rare psy talent that has a habit of killing those who have it. And not only themselves. The talent can go out of control and have the effect of a nuclear bomb on the surrounding area. Of course, Sienna is afraid that she will lose control of it.

Hawke is certain that he will never be able to have a mate because the young wolf who was destined to be his mate died when she was ten. He has a deep core of loneliness. He is also certain that Sienna is too young and too inexperienced for him.

The larger plot concerns the upcoming war between the various psy councilors. One councilor is determined to wipe out both the wolves and the panthers and destroy the city of San Francisco because it is the home base of two other councilors. There are lots of attacks and small battles going on throughout the story.

The book was exciting and the romance was hot. What more could a reader ask for? I recommend the whole series for lovers of paranormal romance.

Favorite Quote:
Her lips flushed under his regard, her pulse thudding in a rapid tattoo that drove his wolf insane. "Scared?" He traced the full curves with one fingertip.

"You do bite."

Smile creasing his cheeks, he gripped her chin, pressing down with his thumb to part her lips, and then he kissed her.
I pre-ordered this one from Amazon as soon as it was possible to do so. You can get your own in hardcover or Kindle now. You will have to wait until November for the paperback.
