Friday Memes: Affliction by Laurell K. Hamilton

Happy Friday everybody!
Book Beginnings on Friday is now hosted by Rose City Reader. The Friday 56 is hosted at Freda's Voice. Check out the links above for the rules and for the posts of the participants each week. Don’t dig for your favorite book, the coolest, the most intellectual. Use the CLOSEST.

This week I am spotlighting a relative newcomer to my TBR mountain. Affliction by Laurell K. Hamilton was just released on July 2. It is the 22nd book in the Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter series which I have been reading since 1993. Here is the description:
Some zombies are raised. Others must be put down. Just ask Anita Blake.

Before now, she would have considered them merely off-putting, never dangerous. Before now, she had never heard of any of them causing human beings to perish in agony. But that’s all changed.

Micah’s estranged father lies dying, rotting away inside from some strange ailment that has his doctors whispering about “zombie disease.”

Anita makes her living off of zombies—but these aren't the kind she knows so well. These creatures hunt in daylight, and are as fast and strong as vampires. If they bite you, you become just like them. And round and round it goes…

 Where will it stop?

Even Anita Blake doesn't know.
Not being a fan of zombies, I am a little apprehensive about this one.

Beginning:
My gun was digging into my back, so I shifted forward in my office chair.
Friday 56:
"Trust me," Dev said, "there is a trail of brokenhearted boys back home who wish so much out luscious Micah liked men better than he does. Sadly, where men are concerned he's a one-man boy."
