It's Monday, What Are You Reading? (Jan. 17, 2011)

It's Monday, What are you reading is a meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey

It’s Monday!  What Are You Reading, is where we gather to share what we have read this past week and what we plan to read this week.  It is a great way to network with other bloggers, see some wonderful blogs, and put new titles on your reading list.

My eye surgery was successful. My vision in my fixed eye is amazing. The only problem I am having so far is that, when I wear my glasses, I have major double vision problems. My old glasses have prisms in the lenses to correct my astigmatism and some crossing of my eyes and I currently don't have a lens in the right side of my glasses. It will be at least a month before I can get new glasses. It should be an interesting month!

Last week I finished:
The Mysterious Lady Law by Robert Appleton is a steampunk mystery/romance. This is an ebook from Carina Press that I got from NetGalley. My review will be posted on Jan. 19.

The Bartered Virgin by Chevon Gael is a historical romance that I also read on my Kindle. It too is from Carina Press via NetGalley. I enjoyed this spicy romance about a rich New York girl who is the tool of her family's ambition when she is engaged to an impoverished British peer. My review will be posted on Jan. 22.
Sweet as Sin by Inez Kelley is a spicy contemporary romance with well developed characters. I chose this one because the male lead is an author of young adult books. My review will be posted on Jan. 26.

Hunted by the Others by Jess Haines is the first book in an urban fantasy series with a heroine who is very reluctant to get involved with the paranormal world. I just got the sequel too. This one was offered for free for the Kindle a while ago. I will be posting the review on Jan. 27.
I am currently reading a 2011 Young Adult Debut author's book - Angelfire by Courtney Allison Moulton. This one reminds me a lot of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Our heroine is a typical high school girl who is interested in friends and her new car. Schoolwork is suffering as she has to battle the reapers. This one is on my Kindle and I am using the text to speech function to read the book.

Next week:
I have two books on my computer to read using Adobe Digital Editions. I got both of them from Simon & Schuster's GalleyGrab program.

Cryer's Cross by Lisa McMann is a murder mystery that takes place in a small town in Montana. The narrator has some sort of mental issue - something in the Asperger's spectrum or OCD. I look forward to getting to it. This one will be published on Feb. 8.

Darkness Becomes Her by Kelly Keaton is a 2011 YA Debut Author. This one sounds like an interesting paranormal. This one will be published on Feb. 22.

Those are my plans. We'll see what the coming week actually brings. What does next week look like for you?

Glad you are having good luck with you fixed eye and I hope once you get your new glasses your sight is perfect. I am quite jealous of your reading Angelfire, I am so anxious to read that. I am also very interested in Cryor's Cross. Have a wonderful week.

  10. I also received The Mysterious Lady Law trough NG. I haven't read it yet, but I hope it's good. I adore the cover. Good to know that the character of Angelfire reminds you of Buffy. I love Buffy! ;) Have fun reading the books you want to read.
