It's Monday, What Are You Reading? (August 13, 2012)

It's Monday, What Are You Reading? is a meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey.

It’s Monday!  What Are You Reading, is where we gather to share what we have read this past week and what we plan to read this week.  It is a great way to network with other bloggers, see some wonderful blogs, and put new titles on your reading list.

I got my "back to school" letter and agenda this week. My time on vacation is ending soon. I will miss all of this free reading time but I'm eager to get back to working with the kids and my colleagues. This week was a slower than normal summer reading week. Here is what I finished.
I read Biting Cold by Chloe Neill which is the most recent in her Chicagoland Vampires series. I really liked it and can't wait for the next volume. My review will be posted on Sept. 12.

I also finally had a chance to read Bloodrose by Andrea Cremer which was the third book in the Nightshade trilogy. Just in time, too. Here first book in her prequel series arrived this week. My review will be posted on August 29.
I read Tears of the Jaguar by A. J. Hartley which was a good archaeological thriller. My review will be posted on August 30 and the book will be released on Sept. 4.

Also being released on Sept. 4 is the latest Mary Russell-Sherlock Holmes adventure. Garment of Shadows by Laurie R. King has Mary and Holmes getting mixed up in the complex politics of Morocco in 1924. This was very adventurous and very enjoyable. My review will be posted on Sept. 1.

My Book of Life by Angel written by Martine Leavitt was the first novel in verse that I have read. This Young Adult contemporary was a very gritty story told by a young woman who is a prostitute on the streets of Vancouver. The language and the amount of story that was told in very few words was amazing. My review will be posted on Aug. 30 and the book will be released on Sept. 4.
I am currently reading my autographed copy of Precinct 13 by Tate Hallaway. I was able to spend a couple of days in the Twin Cities and attend two author events. Saturday afternoon I went to Uncle Hugo's Science Fiction bookstore and met Ms. Hallaway and got this book signed. (I also bought her YA trilogy and got them signed too.)

Next week I will continue to read review books. I have seventeen more books on my stack with September release dates or that I promised to read and review in September.
On the adult side, Taking Charge by Mandy Baggot (a romance) and Murder in Silence by Gary Kassay (Mystery) are both on my Kindle. They were released earlier this year but I said I would read and review them in September.
On the young adult side, I have Outpost by Ann Aguirre which is the sequel to Enclave and will be released on Sept. 4. It is a dystopia. Sept. 8 sees the release of Redemption by Veronique Launier and The City's Son by Tom Pollock. Those two are on my Kindle. Redemption is a paranormal with gargoyles. The City's Son sounds like a contemporary fantasy.

I accepted another adult book that I should read and review this week but it hasn't arrived yet. I do have in hand two other adult books with September release dates that I should read if I have a chance. I think I will be concentrating on YA if I want to read anything non-review. I brought my huge basket of adult books back home with me this week so that my car wouldn't be as full when I had to move back to my school year home in two weeks.

Reviews posted last week included
That was my week. What was your week like?
