It's Monday, What Are You Reading? is a meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey.
It’s Monday! What Are You Reading, is where we gather to share what we have read this past week and what we plan to read this week. It is a great way to network with other bloggers, see some wonderful blogs, and put new titles on your reading list.
We had still another disrupted school week last week. We were closed on Monday because of dangerous wind chills and began two hours late on Tuesday. Thankfully, we operated normally the rest of the week. There was a difficult commute one other day as sleet and snow coincided with the morning rush hour. I didn't have any trouble getting to work on time because of my half mile commute but many of the staff who come from farther away were late.
Despite our lack of school on Monday, I was up bright and early to watch the live streaming of the ALA Youth Media Awards. I was quickly jotting down notes to see what books I needed to add to my next book orders.

Last Week:
Tin Star by Cecil Castellucci is young adult science fiction. I found the story to be slow-paced and introspective. My review will be posted on Feb. 15 for this Feb. 25 release.
Shame on You by Tara Sivec is a romance. I enjoyed the quirky characters and humor. My review for this Feb. 25 release will be posted on Feb. 20.
Avalon by Mindee Arnett was another young adult science fiction story. This one had plenty of action as is followed the exploits of teenage space mercenaries. My review will be posted on Feb. 5 for this January 21 release.
Nick and Tesla's Robot Army Rampage by Bob Pflugfelder and Steve Hockensmith is a middle grade mystery for science lovers. The book also included detailed instructions to build the devices Nick and Tesla build. This time young tinkerers can build a variety of robots. The story was fun and the mystery middle grade appropriate. My review will be posted on Feb. 12 for this Feb. 4 release.
Currently:
I am just about to begin To Make a Match by Liana LeFey. This is one of my Amazon Vine picks. It was released on August 13, 2013. I was in the mood for an historical romance when browsing my choices at Amazon Vine.
Next Week:
I got Moth and Spark by Anne Leonard from Amazon Vine. I also had my request for it approved at NetGalley. This high fantasy with dragons appealed to me so much that I asked for it twice! The book will be released on Feb. 20.
A Taste Fur Murder by Dixie Lyle was on my list for last week but was pushed aside for my Amazon Vine picks which are all being released before it. Hopefully, I'll get to this Feb. 15 release this coming week.
These two sequels were also pushed back to read the new Amazon Vine arrivals.
Unforgotten by Jessica Brady is a YA science fiction title which will be released on Feb. 25.
Burn Bright is a YA contemporary that also includes super heroes. It is also a Feb. 25 release.

We have not had a complete week of school since going back January 6th! This week we are expecting more snow, so we'll see what happens. Have a great week of reading.
ReplyDeleteOn the other side of the world, no rain, no water and approaching drought.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed your review of Do or Die. I really enjoyed the fast action and characters in this book. I hope we meet up with Ian and crew in another book in the series, or maybe she is going to choose a reluctant hero in another place.

Work has been crazy here as well, with all the snow days! We had Tuesday and Wednesday off last week due to extreme temps; this week they are predicting 7 inches of snow! This winter is crazy!
ReplyDeleteNick and Tesla's Robot Army Rampage sounds like it might be great for my son. I too am looking forward to Cress.
ReplyDeleteHere is my It's Monday! What Are You Reading? 3
You always have such great titles in your mailbox. I'm envious! I have Tin Star from Netgalley, but have yet to read it.
ReplyDeleteWe sent the first Nick & Tesla book to my nephew, with supplies to build one of the projects. I don't know if he's read it or built anything, but he liked the look of it when he opened it. Enjoy your week!
ReplyDeleteWow it's hard to imagine that sort of extreme weather, we just have storms, flooding and bushfires and think it's cold in the dead of winter on the rare occasion it drops to 0 lol
ReplyDeleteHave a good week and enjoy your new reads :)
Will check your reviews for Avalon and Moth and Spark. Both sound great! Hopefully this week will be calmer weather wise.
ReplyDeleteMoth and Spark looks really interesting. It's Monday posts are trouble for the tbr lists, aren't they?? :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
I've been meaning to read the Nick & Tesla series for months now but other books have just been finding their way into my hands!
ReplyDeleteSadly, I'm just getting around to Monday posts and comments! The snow, a house full of family... HA
ReplyDeleteI hope you are staying warm, my family is north of Mpls (I'm from Wayzata area)... it's been a long, cold winter for you.
Hope you are having a great week!
