Teaser Tuesday: Clockwork Secrets by Dru Pagliassotti

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of A Daily Rhythm. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
Share the title and author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

Teaser:
"'A good person.' Not exactly a ringing declaration of love. Is something wrong between you?"

Taya flushed.

"No, and what's between us is none of your business." She turned and walked away, impatiently yanking up her skirts to keep them from dragging over the rocks.

Then she stopped, her attention riveted anew by the vast, heaving ocean.
This week my teaser comes from Clockwork Secrets: Heavy Fire by Dru Pagliassotti. This is the final book in her Clockwork Hearts trilogy. Here is the description from Amazon:
Framed for regicide and trapped on a ship crippled by enemy fire, Taya and Ondinium’s diplomatic contingent seem helpless to prevent the well-engineered war their enemies have put into motion. While Alzanan and Demican armies march across Ondinium’s borders, Taya and her husband fight airborne battles from the tropical islands of the Cabisi Thassalocracy to the war-ravaged mountains of Alzana. When Taya falls into her enemy’s hands, she fears that nobody will be able to save Ondinium from the devastating weapon about to be plunged into its mechanically ticking heart.

  1. Not a genre I enjoy, but I do like the sentence "Then she stopped, her attention riveted anew by the vast, heaving ocean."

  2. I haven't read anything by Dru Pagliassotti. This series probably isn't for me if it is heavy on the war part.

Thanks for stopping by my TT for the Stephanie Plum book at Dru Pagliassotti

  8. I like that teaser, and the ocean reference too. Steampunk? I don't read a lot of that but I do enjoy it sometimes- and this one looks good. Nice cover as well.
