Book Beginnings on Friday is now hosted by Rose City Reader. The Friday 56 is hosted at Freda's Voice. Check out the links above for the rules and for the posts of the participants each week. Don’t dig for your favorite book, the coolest, the most intellectual. Use the CLOSEST.
Beginning:
King's CrossFriday 56:
A busy and crowded station. Full of people trying to go somewhere. Amongst the hustle and bustle, two large cages rattle on top of two laden trolleys. They're being pushed by two boys, JAMES POTTER and ALBUS POTTER, their mother, GINNY, follows after. A thirty-seven-year-old man, HARRY, has his daughter, LILY, on his shoulders.
ALBUS: You were right, Scorpius. This train is magical. This week I chose Harry Potter and the Cursed Child by J. K. Rowling and Jack Thorne from my TBR mountain. It has been sitting there since August 2, 2016. Here is the description from Amazon:
SCORPIUS: At this precise moment in time, I take no pleasure in being right.
"The Eighth Story. Nineteen Years Later.
Based on an original new story by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany, a new play by Jack Thorne, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is the eighth story in the Harry Potter series and the first official Harry Potter story to be presented on stage. The play will receive its world premiere in London’s West End on July 30, 2016.
It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children.
While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places."
I haven't read any Harry Potter books, although I did see a couple of the movies. Enjoy! Here's mine: “LYING IN WAIT”
ReplyDeleteI have yet to read a Harry Potter book.
ReplyDeleteOh...good to see you are there too, Laurel. I thought I was the only one in the world. :)
ENJOY your week, Kathy, and thanks for coming by my blog.
I finally have the whole series in hardcover, so one day I can read them all. :-)
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend!
I like to read the Harry Potter books every four or five years, but I have had this one on the shelf for awhile and haven't read it. The fact it is a play is daunting me.
ReplyDeleteI didn't like this book. It was obviously not written by Rowlings and I don't like reading novels in play format. Oh well. Can't win them all. My Friday Quotes
ReplyDeleteI've just started reading the Harry Potter series, so I'm really curious about this book. Have a great weekend! :)
ReplyDeleteI've seen this book around. I haven't read it but it looks interesting.
ReplyDeleteI've only read the first 4 books in the Harry Potter series, but I'd love to get back to it. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read this one yet, but it does sound like a great addition to a HP collection. I hope that you enjoy it. :)
ReplyDeleteHope you're enjoying it after the wait!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I'll ever read The Cursed Child to be honest. I heard very mixed opinions and there are quite a few people who hate it plain and simple. I think HP should have ended with the last book and I'm part of the HP generation so I LOVE the series. I hope you'll like it though!! Enjoy!

I struggle a bit with reading scripts so I don't know if this is for me. I do love the cover though!
ReplyDeleteI love Harry Potter but I don't plan on reading The Cursed Child. I've heard too many mixed reviews of it but I hope you like it! :)
