In My Mailbox (March 14, 2010)

The weekly In My Mailbox post is hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren. It is fun to see what everyone else gets in their mailboxes, shopping bags, and library visits.

Click on the link to The Story Siren's site to see the rules and join in the fun. I guarantee that your TBR pile will grow when you see all the cool books everyone gets. You will discover lots of wonderful blogs and lots of books that you won't be able to live without.

I tried not to buy too many this week because my TBR mountain is threatening to bury me.

I bought one print book and 3 books for my Kindle. And I downloaded 2 free books for my Kindle.

Accidental Werewolf by Dakota Cassidy -- This is about werewolves (my weakness!) and it is supposed to be funny. I bought the book because it was only $.99 more than the Kindle. I want more price differential before I get a Kindle version.

I bought the ARC of Mouse and Dragon by Sharon Lee and Steve Miller from Baen books this week and loaded it onto my Kindle. I also have the hardcover on pre-order from Amazon but couldn't wait until June 15 for my next fix. I am addicted to books in the Liaden Universe. This one is about two of my favorite characters -- Aelliana and Dav. I will be reading it next.

I also bought Shutter Island by Dennis Lehane. I have heard such good things about this thriller and I want to read it.

This last one was purchased because I saw it on someone's IMM post and thought the blurb sounded really interesting. Scandal Sheet by Gemma Halliday is about a gossip columnist who finds out that one of the celebrities she has written about wants her dead.

I also added these two free books to my Kindle this week.

A Bride Most Begrudging by Deeanne Gist is an historical romance about a Lady who finds herself on a ship to the Colonies to become a "tobacco bride".

The Someday List by Stacy Hawkins Adams is a contemporary "chick lit" sort of book about a woman who seems to have it all and then is forced to reassess her life.

Both books had paperback prices of $10.07 but were offered free (at least this week) for the Kindle.

That is what I got. What did you get?

  5. These look great - even the free ones. I haven't seen free books on Kindle for Australians yet, but I do love when they mark down some bestsellers to $2. Enjoy!

  14. All of a sudden, I keep seeing Deeanne Gist books. I even saw one at the used bookstore I went to on Saturday and have been wondering if I should give this author a try. It definitely sounds like my cup of tea though. Happy reading!
