Teaser Tuesday: Nightshade by Andrea Cremer

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title and author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

This week my teaser comes from Nightshade by Andrea Cremer. This is a werewolf story by a 2010 YA Debut Author. Here is the Amazon product description:
Calla Tor has always known her destiny: After graduating from the Mountain School, she'll be the mate of sexy alpha wolf Ren Laroche and fight with him, side by side, ruling their pack and guarding sacred sites for the Keepers. But when she violates her masters' laws by saving a beautiful human boy out for a hike, Calla begins to question her fate, her existence, and the very essence of the world she has known. By following her heart, she might lose everything--including her own life. Is forbidden love worth the ultimate sacrifice?
Here is my teaser:
"You risked your life to save mine?" He took a step toward me. I watched him move closer, blood roaring in my ears.

When his hands cupped my face, closing in so his lips almost touched mine, I shivered. Looking into his eyes, feeling the warmth of his breath on my skin, I knew I'd do it again, no matter the price.
I am enjoying this book very much so far. It is such a unique take on the whole werewolf myth.

  10. I have got to read Nightshade -- keep hearing about it!

Got a great YA fantasy find, and the source of my Teaser today. It's Principle Destiny by David Cleinman, with lots of action, and family relationship issues, what with rightful heir to the throne issues, etc. The race for the kingship makes the story quite interesting and unique. I like that our princess fights for everything she gains -- it's not just handed to her. She has to earn it, and nothing comes easily or is free.

Alyssa’s anger flared. “Don’t you dare look at me like that. I didn’t bring this craziness into this kingdom.” She calmed down. “It’s not much fun alienating my baby brother, risking my life and the health of my compatriots, and now, after all that, my boyfriend has to make me worry.
