Teaser Tuesday: Dark Witch by Nora Roberts

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
Share the title and author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

This week my teaser comes from Dark Witch by Nora Roberts. This is the first book in a new trilogy. Here is the description from Amazon:
First in the all-new Cousins O’Dwyer Trilogy

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts comes a trilogy about the land we’re drawn to, the family we learn to cherish, and the people we long to love…

With indifferent parents, Iona Sheehan grew up craving devotion and acceptance. From her maternal grandmother, she learned where to find both: a land of lush forests, dazzling lakes, and centuries-old legends.

Ireland.

County Mayo, to be exact. Where her ancestors’ blood and magic have flowed through generations—and where her destiny awaits.

Iona arrives in Ireland with nothing but her Nan’s directions, an unfailingly optimistic attitude, and an innate talent with horses. Not far from the luxurious castle where she is spending a week, she finds her cousins, Branna and Connor O’Dwyer. And since family is family, they invite her into their home and their lives.

When Iona lands a job at the local stables, she meets the owner, Boyle McGrath. Cowboy, pirate, wild tribal horsemen, he’s three of her biggest fantasy weaknesses all in one big, bold package.

Iona realizes that here she can make a home for herself—and live her life as she wants, even if that means falling head over heels for Boyle. But nothing is as it seems. An ancient evil has wound its way around Iona’s family tree and must be defeated. Family and friends will fight with each other and for each other to keep the promise of hope—and love—alive…
Teaser:
"Blood is life."

Sorcha sighed. "It is, aye. It is. Thank you."

She drank the potion, and slept.

  1. Hi Kathy :) I hope you're doing well! I haven't been over to visit your blog in a long time, sorry about that!

Can you believe I haven't read a single Nora Roberts book so far? I have no idea how that happened, but it has, even if I have some of hers on my TBR shelf. And your tease certainly got me looking at that shelf right now :D

    Have a terrific Tuesday!

  11. Hi Kathy,

When I actually checked out Nora Roberts, I just couldn't believe what a prolific author she is and over such a long period of time. I have read a couple of her books, however they are some of the older ones, from the 'Night Tales' series, although I know that I do have a few more tucked away at the back of my TBR shelves.

I am not sure that this new series is for me, but that is only based on reading the full synopsis. Going by just the fantastic teaser lines though, I would have been well and truly hooked and trying desperately to work out what was going on!

Thanks for sharing and enjoy the rest of your week,

    Yvonne
