It's Monday! What Are You Reading? (July 2, 2018)

It's Monday, What Are You Reading? is now hosted by Kathryn at The Book Date.

It’s Monday!  What Are You Reading is where we gather to share what we have read this past week and what we plan to read this week.  It is a great way to network with other bloggers, see some wonderful blogs, and put new titles on your reading list.

I will be combining my YA and adult reading and purchases on this one weekly roundup. YA and middle grade reviews will still be posted on  Ms. Martin Teaches Media - my other blog.

Other Than Reading...

This was a busy blogging week for me which was lucky because it has been hot and, starting on Thursday, lines of thunderstorms have been traveling through. I sleep like a rock, but even I was awakened by the thunder on Friday morning at about 5 AM. Luckily, we are getting mostly glancing blows from the storms and have much less flooding than many of the towns around us. There was some flooding downtown on Friday, but up here on the hill where I live, things were fine,

I finished my State of the Stack post and discovered that I added 22 review books in June but only read 18. While I like being a month ahead on my blog, I still have 4 July releases to read. I also have 5 books to read before my July calendar is finished.

June was a good reading month. I finished 28 books for a total of 9895 pages. Twenty of them were review books. Eight of them were my own but only 4 count for lowering TBR mountain. The other four were recent arrivals.

I also set up my August calendar and prepared the posts as much as I can before reading the books. I scheduled in some series books that I want to finish up. Many of those series books arrived this month. I also have 14 review books on the calendar. I added 36 books to my collection this month. 22 of them are new review books. I've only read two of the new arrivals - one of mine and one review - so far which adds 13 to my non-review TBR mountain.

Read Last Week

If you can't wait until the review shows up on my blog, reviews are posted to LibraryThing and Goodreads as soon as I write them (usually right after I finish reading a book.)
  • Between Frost and Fury by Chani Lynn Feener - YA Science Fiction that is 2nd in a trilogy. My review will be posted on July 18.
  • Contagion by Erin Bowman - YA Science Fiction/Horror. My review will be posted on July 20.
  • Murder, She Reported by Peg Cochran - Historical mystery. My review will be posted on July 21.
  • The Griffin's Feather by Cornelia Funke - Middle Grade Fantasy. My review will be posted on July 23.
  • The Impossibility of Us by Katy Upperman - YA contemporary. My review will be posted on July 25.
  • A Double Life by Flynn Berry - Psychological thriller. My review will be posted on July 25.
Currently
Deep Cover by Scarlett Cole is a romantic suspense title from my review stack.

Want to See What I Added to My Stack Last Week?

Bought
  • Iron and Magic by Ilona Andrews - I read a review copy but wanted a keeper copy on my Kindle.
  • In Farleigh Field by Rhys Bowen - I've been meaning to try this author but didn't want to jump into a long-running series and it was a Kindle Deal.
  • Red Waters Rising by Laura Anne Gilman - I've been waiting for this final book in the Devil's West trilogy since I finished the second book.
  • The Unyielding by Shelly Laurenston - This was a Kindle deal. The only problem is that it is book 3 in a series and I don't have book 2.
Review
The Splintered Light by Ginger Johnson (Sept. 4) - This was a surprise in my mailbox from Bloomsbury.

What was your week like?

  4. I love how organized you are. That used to be me when I reviewed full-time. Not so much these days; it's more of a read what I can, when I can.

Set the Night on Fire, The Butterfly Conspiracy and To Catch a Witch all sound great. Hope you enjoy all your books.

  6. This weather is not my favorite. Lol. Too hot! I am a fall/winter girl. :)

So many books! Sea Witch and Rebel Waves both look awesome. And I loved In Farleigh Field and it is not a genre I usually enjoy!

  14. We've had some storms roll through too and people lost power, but thankfully we weren't among them.

I'm hopeful for Contagion and The Loneliest Girl- they both look good!
