Friday Memes: Show No Mercy by Cindy Gerard

 Happy Friday everybody!

Book Beginnings on Friday is hosted by Rose City ReaderThe Friday 56 is hosted at Freda's Voice. Check out the links above for the rules and for the posts of the participants each week. Don’t dig for your favorite book, the coolest, the most intellectual. Use the CLOSEST.

The Friday 56 is currently on hiatus but many of us are still including them. Anne @ Head Full of Books is picking up the slack until Freda is ready to return. I think this link will get you to the correct place.

Beginning:
Outskirts of Freetown,
Sierra Leone, West Africa 1999

Tracer rounds zipped across the murky darkness, lighting up the night sky in brilliant slashes of red, yellow, and green. It made Gabe Jones think of Fourth of July fireworks. Or of bad special effects in a B-grade horror movie.
Friday 56:
Gathering the folds of her gauzy skirt, she ran like hell, until the heel on her left shoe snapped. She stumbled, righting herself and, swearing at her bad luck, kicked off her other shoe, all the while digging into her bag for the pepper spray. A bruising hand snagged her arm sending the spray flying; another wrapped around her waist and hauled her off her feet.
This week I dug deep into TBR mountain to find I book I bought July 19, 2009. Show No Mercy by Cindy Gerard is a military romance and the first in the Black Ops series. Here is the description from Amazon:
The sexy heroes of Black Ops, Inc., a covert private security team, sizzle in New York Times bestselling author Cindy Gerard's electrifying new romantic suspense series.

THE SULTRY HEAT...

Only two things can compel journalist Jenna McMillan back to Buenos Aires after terrorists held her captive there just months before: a rare interview with a shadowy billionaire and the memory of the dark and dangerous man who saved her....

HIDES THE DEADLIEST THREATS...

Bad guys, bombs, and bullets are Gabriel Jones's way of life. But he'll never forget the brash redhead he rescued not so long ago...or the passionate kiss they shared before he sent her packing....

AND EXPOSES THE DEEPEST DESIRES.

Now, forced together by a bombing at the National Congress, Jenna and Gabe confront the urgent longings that simmer between them. But this surprise meeting is no coincidence. A ruthless enemy stalks them with deadly precision. The question is...if they make it out alive, will Gabe turn his back on Jenna...again?
