In My Mailbox (May 9, 2011)

The weekly In My Mailbox post is hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren. It is fun to see what everyone else gets in their mailboxes, shopping bags, and library visits. Click on the link to The Story Siren's site to see the rules and join in the fun.

I guarantee that your TBR pile will grow when you see all the wonderful books everyone gets. You will discover lots of great blogs and lots of books that you won't be able to live without.
I had a monster, big mailbox week this week. Darn those free books for the Kindle!

First, free for my Kindle:

I got Little Fuzzy by H. Beam Piper because John Scalzi is doing a revisiting of the book that is being published next week. I thought I should read the original again before I see how Scalzi handles the story.

SEALed with a Kiss by Mary Margaret Daughtridge got me with the cover. I love military romances.

Almost Perfect by Julie Ortolon sounds like a cute chick lit sort of romance.

Baby, I'm Yours by Stephanie Bond also got me with the cover.

Sparks Fly by Lucy Kevin is also a romance.

Photographs & Phantoms by Cindy Spencer Pape is another in her steampunk series. This one is more novella length but looks like a fun read.
I also bought one book for my Kindle this week -- Sabine by Moira Rogers. Love the warning: Warning: This story contains cruel betrayal, destined love, vile curses, smoldering reunions, wicked deeds between wanton shapeshifters and a happily-ever-after worthy of any fairy tale.

I bought some print books too.

A couple of books I pre-ordered quite a while ago arrived -- Dead Reckoning by Charlaine Harris and Hard Bitten by Chloe Neill. I don't think I have to say anything about either of them since so many people have been talking about them lately.

I also bought a bindup of Liaden Universe books. Korval's Game by Sharon Lee and Steve Miller includes Plan B and I Dare. I have already read these numerous times but I wanted the book so that my collection stays complete.

Then I added a few paperbacks to the stack. I saw someone's post about books they were waiting for in May. I was also waiting for most of them. I decided that if she wanted them they must be good and added these two which weren't already on my list.

Finally, I added Warcry by Elizabeth Vaughn because I have and have enjoyed the previous books in this fantasy series.

Lastly, I received two books for review this week:
I got Dead by Midnight by Carolyn Hart through the Amazon Vine program. I have read this series but may be a few books behind as I am reading fewer contemporary mysteries these days. I am eager to catch up with the characters.

The Map of Time by Felix J. Palma came to me through a link at ShelfAwareness. It sounded very steampunk and appealed to me. It also came with a copy of H. G. Wells' The Time Machine which I don't think I have ever read.

That was my massive mailbox. What landed in yours?
