Stacking the Shelves (June 30 & July 7, 2013)

Tynga of Tynga's Reviews has a meme to spotlight the books we receive each week. Visit her site to check out the linky and see what everyone gets. I guarantee that your TBR pile will grow.

I didn't post last week because I was supposed to be attending ALA. I did manage to go to the Exhibit Hall on Friday evening but wound up in the hospital Saturday morning and didn't get out until Monday mid-morning. I did a quick round of the Exhibit Hall Monday too. Here is what I got:
The Outside by Laura Bickle is an ARC and the sequel to her unusual YA dystopian novel The Hallowed Ones

Alpha and Omega: Cry Wolf Volume 2 by Patricia Briggs is a graphic retelling of a book I have read. It is a finished copy and is completely baffling to me because I can't find any indication that there was a volume 1.

Enemy Within by Marcella Burnard is a futuristic romance that was quite an intense story.

The Whole Golden World by Kristina Riggle is going to be a stretch read for me because it is described as women's fiction. This is an ARC of a book that will be released in November.

Game Slaves by Gard Skinner is another ARC for a January 2014 YA release. The description reminded me a little bit of Ready Player One.

Judgment on Proteus by Timothy Zahn is a finished, autographed copy of the fifth book in a science fiction series.
Covet by Tracey Garvis Graves is an ARC of a September release and another stretch read for me.

The White Princess by Philippa Gregory is an ARC of a July release. It is the fifth in the Cousins' War series. I recently read another novel that featured Tudor England and thought this one sounded good.

The Great Escape by Susan Elizabeth Phillips is a finished copy. I like SEP's romances and look forward to reading this one.

I also bought some books this week both before and after ALA. Here they are:
Saving Paradise by Mike Bond is a thriller I received for review via Meryl Moss Media Relations.

Deal Breaker by Harlan Coben is the first of the Myron Bolitar mysteries that I chose because I read his YA mystery.

Cold Steel by Kate Elliott is the third in her "Cold" fantasy series. I liked book one but haven't had a chance to read book 2 yet.

She Stoops by Conquer by Oliver Goldsmith is this week's SYNC audio companion book. I saw that it was narrated by James Marsters and became more excited about hearing this play.

Marked by Elizabeth Naughton was a free book for my Kindle.

Her Knight in Black Leather by JM Stewart was a Kindle Romance Daily Deal.

In Rides Trouble by Julie Ann Walker was also a Kindle Daily Deal. This one is romantic suspense.

Hush by Kate White was also a Kindle Daily Deal. This one is a thriller.
Affliction by Laurell K. Hamilton is the latest in the Anita Blake series. I pre-ordered this one month's ago because I need to know what happens next in this series.

Lions, Tigers, and Sexy Bears Oh My! by Candace Havens is a review book that I got from Entangled Covet.

The Genius and the Muse by Elizabeth Hunter was a Kindle Romance Daily Deal.

Finally, I got A Liaden Universe Constellation, Volume I by Sharon Lee and Steve Miller. This is a collection of the Liaden Universe stories that were previous published in annual chapbooks and in an ebook collection. (I have both the chapbooks and the ebooks already but couldn't resist having a print copy for my Liaden shelf.)

That was my haul. What did you get this week?

  2. Very nice collection. I have read several. Like you I have all the Liaden books and chapbooks in original release, the collections and ebook form. This is the first time I have seen the Alpha and Omega as a graphic novel. I just started reading that series and love it.

  7. Another decent stack. I don't read Adult books too often, but The Outside, Covet, The White Princess, and Cold Stell look interesting. I actually love Susan Elizabeth Phillips (The Great Escape) even though I like clean books and hers are definitely not clean. She has great characters and her writing is fabulous. A couple of her books were too much for me, but I've read all of them. :) Thanks for stopping by my STS!
