It's Monday! What Are You Reading? (Dec. 16, 2013)

It's Monday, What Are You Reading? is a meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey.

It’s Monday!  What Are You Reading, is where we gather to share what we have read this past week and what we plan to read this week.  It is a great way to network with other bloggers, see some wonderful blogs, and put new titles on your reading list.

This was a quiet week for me. Things were normal at work. The pre-vacation frenzy hasn't hit yet since we are in school all this coming week. The weather has been cold but we have gotten very little snow. My Christmas shopping is done except for wrapping. I am starting to plan for my upcoming trip to Duluth. I'll be leaving on Saturday and staying about a week with my brother. I have a bag of books ready to go but nothing else ready yet.

Last Week:
I finished Taste of Darkness by Maria V. Snyder. This was an enjoyable conclusion to this epic fantasy series. My review will be posted on Dec. 28.

I pulled Treecat Wars by David Weber and Jane Lindskold off my YA TBR stack. I enjoyed this latest episode in Weber's YA science fiction series. My review will be posted on Dec. 26
I finished Defy by Sara B. Larson. This was a YA high fantasy novel that I got from NetGalley for review. I enjoyed the story. My review will be posted on Dec. 28.

I got River Road by Jayne Ann Krentz from LibraryThing Early Reviewers this week and read it right away. I love that Krentz has returned to her romantic suspense roots and loved this story. I like that her main characters are both adults and strong people. It makes the romance better for me. My review will be posted on January 2.

Nothing. I just finished Defy.

Next Week:
Adult Books
Alone by Kenra Elliot is from my review stack. I have enjoyed the other books in the Bone Secrets series and am eager to read this Jan. 7 release.

I also hope to read Death at Bishop's Keep by Robin Paige. This one is from my TBR mountain and is historical romantic suspense.
YA Books
Being Sloane Jacobs is from my review stack. This contemporary sounds like a fun read as two Sloane Jacobs change identities to try to improve their lives. The book will be released on Jan. 7.

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell is from my TBR mountain. I have heard such good things about this contemporary that I had to choose it when I had a break between review books.
I picked Grave Dance (print | audio) by Kalayna Price to be the audiobook I listen to on my way to and from Duluth for Christmas Break.

Reviews Last Week:

I hope everyone has a great week in this run-up to Christmas - lots of joy and laughter, family and friends - and lots of good reading too.

  1. I am always so impressed with not only the amount of books you read, but the diversity!

  2. I loved Touch of Power and need to get caught up on that series. I also want to read Being Sloane Jacobs. I have an ARC of that one so I'll be reading it in the next few weeks hopefully.

I loved Fangirl though Eleanor and Park is still my favorite. I hope you enjoy it!

Have fun visiting your brother! I still have to pack for my trip home. I'm not sure if I will be taking any books with me but I will pack my Kindle.

  3. Ooh I'd love to read Being Sloane Jacobs, I really enjoyed her other book. I love Maria V Snyder's fantasy books, I've read the first one in her latest trilogy and have her second one, but I hadn't even realised the third book was out now. She writes fast!

I've got Fangirl to read too, I love Rainbow Rowell so I'm really looking forward to this one!

  4. I want to get River Road by Krentz. I too loved some of her earlier romantic suspense! Must look it up in our library.

  5. What a lovely lot of books! I'm afraid the only one I've heard of is River Road, and that one sounds really interesting. I'm sort of surprised that I've never read anything by Jayne Ann Krentz, but I've got a couple of her books on my TBR pile - hope to maybe get to them after the holidays.
    Happy reading this week!

  6. Good to hear Touch of Power was a good conclusion, I'm reading it this week and I'm a bit over trilogies with disappointing ends. I want to read Eleanor & Park before Fangirl, might even make it my first read of 2014.

Have a great week, happy reading and enjoy your visit :)

  7. Grave Dance looks great. Gorgeous cover. Enjoy reading this week!

Take a look at what I'm reading this week.

  8. I so long for a quiet week LOL

  12. Love the look of River Road...and Fangirl is also on my list. Thanks for sharing...and for visiting my blog. Enjoy your week!

  13. Awesome selection. So many interesting books I have several on my TBR list. Thanks for sharing this week. I hope your able to read them all. Happy Holidays! My It's Monday!

  14. Oooh and again, another list that brings out my green eyed devil! LOL I want to read them all!

I need to read Ann Aguirre's YA series. I have them in my wishlist on Amazon. They sound AMAZING! I hope you do check out her Jax, Corinne Soloman and Dred series sometime!

  15. I love that you packed your books before anything else. Enjoy your books and I hope you have a wonderful visit with your brother!
