It's Monday! What Are You Reading? (March 1, 2021)

It's Monday, What Are You Reading? is now hosted by Kathryn at The Book Date.

It’s Monday!  What Are You Reading is where we gather to share what we have read this past week and what we plan to read this week.  It is a great way to network with other bloggers, see some wonderful blogs, and put new titles on your reading list.

I will be combining my YA and adult reading and purchases on this one weekly roundup.

Other Than Reading...

Last week was filled with medical appointments and much busier than usual for me. Both went well and, thankfully, I don't need to have another colonoscopy for five years. Actually the anticipation and preparation for the colonoscopy is the worst part, the actual procedure is done under deep sedation. The worst part the day of the procedure was getting the IV for the anesthesia. My veins are hard to find and tend to roll away from the needle. Then I went to sleep and woke up in the recovery room.

I had talked about getting vaccinated with my Primary Care doctor when I saw her on Monday. She said that they were contacting their patients using a lottery since they were getting too few doses for all their patients. I said that I had already registered through the State system. She recommended that I see if there was a registration process through my County. I was content to wait until my turn came up and thinking that it would be quite a while before my turn cane around. So I was excited to get an email from my State last Wednesday saying I could register for the Coronavirus vaccine at the State vaccination site right here in the city where I live. I did that immediately and am scheduled for my first dose of the Moderna vaccine Sunday, Feb. 28 at 10:50AM. They also scheduled the second dose for March 28 at the same time. By the time this is posted I'll be half-vaccinated.

Other than getting a shot, the rest of this coming week is appointment-free. I'm looking forward to reading and listening to some great books. The weather is getting nicer, baseball season is getting closer, and The Voice starts a new season this week too!

February Report

I read 26 books this month. Seventeen of them were audiobooks. Six others were review books. My reading totaled 9244 pages including my audiobooks. I spent almost 140 hours listening to audiobooks.

I added 43 books to my TBR mountain in February. Thirty were audiobooks. Four were review books. Thirty-eight of my new arrivals were Kindle books. Eight of the Kindle books don't also have audiobooks on my stack right now. Five were audiobooks where I already own the Kindle. Only one of my new audiobooks doesn't have a corresponding print or Kindle copy already on my stack.

I've already read ten of my new arrivals but 33 are still waiting on TBR mountain. Total TBR mountain including pending review books is 2278 books. I have 66 on TBR mountain from 2021.

  1. It sounds like February was quite an impressive reading month! I hope March is just as good!
    140 hours! Wow!! That's amazing!
How are you feeling after the vaccine? I know someone who said they felt absolutely no different after, and someone who experienced not so great side effects :( So I have been interested to see how people are feeling! Most often, I hear that people just have a sore arm.
I hope you have a great reading week! Good luck with that TBR mountain lol!!

  2. So pleased to hear about your medical results. I had to smile that despite reading 26 books you've still added more to your TBR than you read. I'm avoiding adding much to my TBR at the moment, I need to get it under control!

  3. Good news on scheduling your shots!

I, too, thought the colonoscopy prep was the worst part.

Enjoy your books and your week, and thanks for visiting my blog.

  4. So glad you were able to sign up for the vaccine! Hope you're not feeling too bad today after the first dose. My husband was mostly just tired after his. I'm hoping that once there's a good supply of the J&J vaccine, things will really open up.

Congrats on a great reading month, too!

  5. Wow on 26 books!! That is amazing.

Scheduling shots here in PA is very frustrating and time-consuming, but we thankfully did get one. They need an easier system and one that is less stressful.

I’ll have to check out your review of EVERY LAST FEAR.

ENJOY your week, and stay safe.

  11. That was nice to get Legacy. Yes prep for a colonoscopy is yuck to say the least. Good to hear about the deep sedation. They didn't do that for me and I hope I never have another!
