Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
My teaser this week is from Side Jobs: Stories from the Dresden Files by Jim Butcher. This is a collection of all of the short stories that Butcher has written in the world of Harry Dresden who is the only mage listed in the Chicago phone book. I really enjoy the series and like having all the stories gathered together in one volume.
Harry is a wonderful character. He's a knight errant with a tarnished sword and a very smart mouth. I love the stories.
The teaser:
I let out a battle cry. Sure, a lot of people might have mistaken it for a sudden yelp of unmanly fear, but trust me: It was a battle cry.Sure, Harry, whatever you say....
I've never read this author. Great teaser!
ReplyDeleteI love the teaser! Funny!!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read any Jim Butcher either, but this was a good teaser! It made me laugh!
ReplyDeleteHere's mine

LOL -- I've been meaning to read this series.
ReplyDeleteI like this teaser! He sounds like he has a great sense of humor. Thanks for stopping by my blog, The Enchanted Book. That you run two blogs and so well is amazing to me. I can barely keep up with one!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!

JB is on my TBR List for the new year! Great Teaser!
ReplyDeleteI often enjoy collections of short stories and this is based on a world from a book - a double plus+! Not to mention the thought of the "battle cry" makes it seem interesting alright. :)
ReplyDeleteLOL! Sounds like the typical male ego taking over... ROTFL....thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteHa ha! I’ve only read two short stories by Jim Butcher, but they were enough to make me fall in love with Harry. This is a series I have to tackle in 2011.
ReplyDeleteLOL! Oh, that's SUCH a good line. XD
ReplyDeleteHere is my teaser from Out of Touch by Brandon Tietz (Page vii):
ReplyDeleteI used to be the kind of guy that would have no problem reading Playboy or Hustler on an airplane, but that me in "the before," and nearly everything has changed since that time in my life a little over a year ago.
This is not a coming of age story.
If that's what you're wanting then I suggest you put this down and read something else: something with a happy ending. Like Penthouse.
Or: the funny pages.
This is me giving you your official warning.
Because where this goes, you might not be ready for.
Interesting. I still have to read Changes.

Awesome teaser!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great week (:
Great teaser! I loved the TV show, but haven't read any of the books or stories. I should do something about that!
ReplyDeleteI love this series, but have hesitated about reading Side Jobs because I don't usually care for short stories - I may have to reconsider!

I've heard a lot good things about Jim Butcher, been meaning to read him for awhile now.
ReplyDeleteMy Tuesday Teaser
Ah, nice! I've been meaning to read Butcher, but he's on my bad list—he avoided a dear friend of mine at Dragon*Con last year. (We're sure it wasn't intentional, but still.)
