This is the beginning of Judgment Day by Wanda L. Dyson. Who could read that and not want to continue? 

I picked this book from my TBR stack because I received it from LibraryThing's Early Reviewer program and was in the mood for a thriller. I think I know what the girl's fate is going to be...but I hope that I am wrong.
