In My Mailbox (Jan. 16, 2011)

The weekly In My Mailbox post is hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren. It is fun to see what everyone else gets in their mailboxes, shopping bags, and library visits. Click on the link to The Story Siren's site to see the rules and join in the fun.
I guarantee that your TBR pile will grow when you see all the wonderful books everyone gets. You will discover lots of great blogs and lots of books that you won't be able to live without.

This was a good week to get books for review. I began by visiting NetGalley and sampling these Carina Press titles. Carina Press is a publisher of ebooks in a wide variety of genres.
The Bartered Virgin by Chevon Gael was an historical romance about the early 1900s when rich New York families were eager to snatch up impoverished British peers for their daughters. I enjoyed this romance very much. My review will be posted on Jan. 22.

Sweet as Sin by Inez Kelley was a contemporary romance. I chose this one because one of the main characters was a young adult author. I thought this one was very good too. Both characters were well-developed and the romance was very spicy. My review will be posted on Jan. 26

The Mysterious Lady Law by Robert Appleton appealed to me because it was steampunk. I had read about this one on a few blogs and was interested. It was a good mystery set in a well-developed world. My review will be posted on Jan. 19.

I also got these:
A Song for My Mother by Kat Martin was sent to me for review from Vanguard Press. There isn't even a cover yet. This seems to be a romance about going home again and meeting up with the guy you left behind. It sounds entertaining.

Deeper Than the Dead by Tami Hoag sounded so good to me that I accidentally bought two copies. This one arrived and then I discovered that I already had one on my TBR stack. Maybe this time I'll get it read before I forget that I have it.

My addition to my free Kindle books this week was When the Devil Whistles by Rick Acker. It sounds like an interesting legal thriller.

This was really an unusual week for me. Of the books listed above, I only purchased one (and it was used.) I wonder if the publishing industry will survive without my usual weekly cash infusion? Did you get anything interesting in your mailbox this week?

  7. Sounds like a great haul of books! I have Deeper Than the Dead in my TBR pile from my Mom, who we bought a Kindle as a Christmas present for. She just bought the next book after that for the Kindle! :-) Now that we can share Kindle books, I'm even happier we bought her a Kindle!

    Thanks for sharing!
