It's Monday! What Are You Reading? (March 10, 2014)

It's Monday, What Are You Reading? is a meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey.

It’s Monday!  What Are You Reading, is where we gather to share what we have read this past week and what we plan to read this week.  It is a great way to network with other bloggers, see some wonderful blogs, and put new titles on your reading list.

I had a great but busy week. My friend and I had a great time at Cecil Castellucci's author signing Thursday evening. Listening to her speak really helped me understand what she was trying to accomplish in Tin Star. I bought a copy of Beige - one of her other novels - because I was interested in the storyline and because I wanted an autographed copy of one of her books for my shelf. I bought a finished copy of Tin Star too but had it autographed for my students so that I could donate it to my media center.

We almost had a full week of school this past week. We did have a late start on Friday because of impassible roads. My friend and I didn't have any trouble making the trip from her house to work though. It must have been the rural roads.

This week should be quieter. Except for an appointment to have my taxes done Monday after work, I have no meetings or appointments scheduled.

Read Last Week
Dash of Peril by Lori Foster was another excellent romantic suspense title in her Love Undercover series. My review will be posted on March 20.

Sky Raiders by Brandon Mull was also a great story. Middle graders will be excited by this adventurous beginning to a new series. My review will be posted on March 20 for this one too.
She Can Hide by Melinda Leigh was also an excellent romantic suspense novel. I couldn't put it down and read it all day Saturday. My review will be posted on March 19.

Faking Normal by Courtney C. Stevens was also amazing. This was another one that I just couldn't put down. I highly recommend this YA book to fans of "problem novels." I just ached for both of the main characters. My review for this book will also be posted on March 19.

Currently
I grabbed Don't Even Think About It by Sarah Mlynowski from my review stack because I wanted something a little lighter after reading Faking Normal. This story about a group of kids who develop telepathy after getting a flu shot has been pretty good so far.

Next Week

Again, my week is all review books all the time. March has been a particularly review heavy month so far. So far, April is looking much better. I might even be able to read a couple from my TBR mountain.
I have the techno-thriller RedDevil 4 by Eric C. Leuthardt for review. I am on the tour for this book on March 27.

Blood and Iron by Jon Sprunk is the first book in a new epic fantasy series. I got the ARC from Amazon Vine without looking to see when it was released. I won't get it read by the March 11 release date but hope to get to it soon.
Notorious by Allison Brennan is also an Amazon Vine pick. I have liked other thrillers by the author and this one introduces a new character.

The Revenant of Thraxton Hall by Vaughn Entwistle is a NetGalley pick. I liked the idea of a mystery with Sir Arthur Conan Doyle as one of the main characters.
The Mark of the Dragonfly by Jaleigh Johnson is the start of a middle grade fantasy series. I have had this ARC since ALA this past June and have been waiting until nearer publication date to read it.

Love Letters to the Dead by Ava Dellaira was one I got from Macmillan and it begins my April bunch of review books.

Sekret by Lindsay Smith also came from Macmillan and is an April release.

  6. Ooh nice! Still haven't had a signing in my city. Haven't had one (from one of my many fave authors) since 2012! There was one last year, but it got canceled. And I found out too late that the authors were still there and would hang out with the readers. Of course, they were there BEFORE the actual signing time and hence my being late because I checked my email a few hours too late so I had no idea where they were by then. That was a very devastating day...still haven't had a signing since to cheer me up from it.

Nice lineup though! Those are pretty much all new to me! Hope you enjoy all your reads!

    Here's my Monday Wrapup

    Have a GREAT day!

  7. The students at my school seem to enjoy Sarah Mlynowski's work. :) I will have to check Don't Even Think About It out. :)

I officially had my first whole week of school last week! Yay! This week we have a half day on Friday, so that didn't last long. Lol.

  9. Author signings are always fun. I think Sky Raiders and Don't Even Think about It sound good. I see that Sarah Mlynowski wrote that- my daughter has read some of her stuff so the name jumped out at me. Interesting premise!

  15. That's so cool that you went to an author signing of Castellucci! I still need to read Tin Star - it's on my ereader. Revenant of Thraxton Hall sounds fantastic! I'd love to see how closely the author places Doyle to Sherlock, or if the author felt that Doyle would have been more similar to Watson. Curious, curious. Happy reading!
