It's Monday! What Are You Reading? (August 7, 2017)

It's Monday, What Are You Reading? is now hosted by Kathryn at The Book Date.

It’s Monday!  What Are You Reading is where we gather to share what we have read this past week and what we plan to read this week.  It is a great way to network with other bloggers, see some wonderful blogs, and put new titles on your reading list.

I will be combining my YA and adult reading and purchases on this one weekly roundup. YA and middle grade reviews will still be posted on  Ms. Martin Teaches Media - my other blog.

Other Than Reading...

This was a pretty quiet week. My brother and I took a quick day trip on Wednesday, which was also my birthday, down to pick up the boxes I had forgotten at my townhouse. We had lunch at one of our favorite Italian restaurants in Rochester, picked up my stuff, dropped off the YA books I wanted to donate to the high school media center, and drove back to Duluth. We stopped at Coldstone Creamery in Duluth to use a gift card I had and get an ice cream treat to celebrate the end of our long drive.

It took me a couple of days to recover both because of the long day and because of late baseball games. I took a few naps and read lots and lots. We are in the waiting phase of our house sales. The items we needed to fix for the Locust Street house are done and now we are just waiting for the closing at the end of the month. The inspection was done on my townhouse in Eyota on Friday but I haven't heard yet if there are things I need to fix. I should hear this week. The closing for that one is set for Sept. 1.

I don't have anything on my agenda for this week and hope to read lots of the September review books I have on my stack.

Read Last Week

I began the week by reading the next four books on my review stack.
The Great Shelby Holmes Meets Her Match by Elizabeth Eulberg tells the story of 9-year-old genius Shelby Holmes as she solves middle school mysteries. My review will be posted on Ms. Martin Teaches Media September 4.

The Epic Crush of Genie Lo by F. C. Yee is about Genie Lo, average Chinese-American girl, who finds herself fighting demons from Chinese mythology. My review will be posted today on Ms. Martin Teaches Media.
On the Chase by Katie Ruggle was an entertaining romantic suspense title that I got from NetGalley. My review will be posted on this blog August 31.

Her Dark Half by Paige Tyler was also a romantic suspense title from NetGalley. It is deep in a series which I haven't read but stood up well as a stand-alone. My review will be posted on this blog September 2.

I listened to the author Sharon Lee read a chapter of Mouse and Dragon and got sucked back in to reading the Liaden Universe books. One thing led to another until I found that I'd read six of them. I needed to keep reading until I got to the most recent book which is making me very hungry for Neogenesis which will be coming out sometime in 2018. I did skip most of the Theo Waitley books (12, 14, 15, and 17 in the internal series order) because I was following Daav and Aelliana's story but will probably read them this coming week.
Scout's Progress by Sharon Lee and Steve Miller (Amazon | Review)
Mouse and Dragon by Sharon Lee and Steve Miller (Amazon | Review)
Necessity's Child by Sharon Lee and Steve Miller (Amazon | Review)
Alliance of Equals by Sharon Lee and Steve Miller (Amazon | Review)
Dragon in Exile by Sharon Lee and Steve Miller (Amazon | Review)
The Gathering Edge by Sharon Lee and Steve Miller (Amazon | Review)

Currently
I have Nyxia by Scott Reintgen from my YA review stack next.

  7. Happy belated birthday! It sounds like you had a pretty productive day.

Some of the books you have listed sound interesting, so I'm going to check them out and add them to my TBR. I'm a big fan of romantic suspense, and slowly working my way through Paige Tyler's 'X-ops' series. Also interested in the Katie Ruggle books.

    Happy reading!
