Book Beginnings: Winter Wishes

Book Beginnings on Friday is now hosted by Katy at A Few More Pages Anyone can participate; just share the opening sentence of your current read, making sure that you include the title and author so others know what you're reading. If you like, share with everyone why you do, or do not, like the sentence.

This week my opening sentence comes from the first story in the Winter Wishes anthology. The authors are Vivian Arend, Vivi Andrews and Moira Rogers. This is an ebook that I received from NetGalley courtesy of Carina Press for review. The book will be published on Monday, Dec. 6.
A Twist on Tradition

A woman has the Christmas Eve from Hell. Two cat shifters play naughty games. And a witch brings out the beast inside the man. The magic of the season takes on a whole new meaning in these three fantastic—and festive—novellas from some of the best voices in paranormal romance.
Here is the opening sentence:
She's the cat's meow, and he's ready to pounce.
Truly a gag-worthy opening sentence. That is an incredibly bad pick-up line and really cheesy too. The story just has to get better. What do you think?

  1. Yes, we don't hear that "cat's meow" expression very much these days...LOL

  2. One would certainly hope that it gets better. I agree with Laurel-Rain, the cover is much better than the opening line!
