It's Monday, What Are You Reading? (Nov. 8, 2010)

It's Monday, What are you reading is a meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey

It’s Monday!  What Are You Reading, is where we gather to share what we have read this past week and what we plan to read this week.  It is a great way to network with other bloggers, see some wonderful blogs, and put new titles on your reading list.

I finished four books this week.
I completed Maybe This Time by Jennifer Crusie. This was an entertaining romance. There were some ghosts including one who wanted the heroine's ex-husband and current love interest for her own but it didn't really seem to qualify as a paranormal romance for me. It was filled with Crusie's usual assortment of quirky characters and was a fun book to read. My review is here

The second book I read this week was Carousel Tides by Sharon Lee. This was an urban fantasy with a bit of romance. I really liked it and encourage others to give this author a try. The story was exciting and the main character an interesting and complex person. My review is here.

I got two new books by Nora Roberts this week. Both of them immediately hit the top of my TBR stack.

Happy Ever After is the finale of the Brides Quartet and was a great romance between the well-organized Parker and the more laid back Mal. It was also great to revisit the other three stars of the previous books and their loves. This was filled with Roberts' wonderful dialog and characterization. I highly recommend the series to romance lovers. The review is scheduled for Wednesday.

Indulgence in Death by J. D. Robb is the 38th addition to this series which began in 1995 with Naked In Death. I love the relationship between Eve and Roarke and never miss an opportunity to revisit the characters. I also like the futuristic setting and the mystery. Although this mystery was not so much "who dunnit" but how are the cops going to find enough evidence to prove it. This review is scheduled for Thursday.
I am just going to start Play of Passion by Nalini Singh. This is the next book in another addicting series. I am a big fan of the Psy-Changeling world and always enjoy these books.

Next week will be a YA/MG week for me. I didn't read anything from those stacks this week and they are really starting to pile up. In addition to the stacks pictured below, I have a number of eARCs for review on my Kindle. I haven't read anything on my Kindle for a while. Although I did spend most of last Sunday organizing my Kindle books (over 400 of them) into Collections.
I have absolutely no idea how I will choose what to read next. There are so many that I want to read NOW that I might be forced to try "eenie meenie miney mo" to make a decision. Are there any in the bunch that you think I should read immediately?

Also, on Thursday evening weather and health permitting, a friend and I will be driving up to the Cities to attend a book reading and signing by Lois McMaster Bujold. As anyone who reads my blog knows, I think she is an amazing writer and I am really looking forward to the trip. I have my copy of Cryoburn ready to go. It is my only unsigned Bujold.

And to add to my week's excitement, I was asked by my Elementary Principal to attend the Monday night School Board meeting to talk about a contest that my fourth grade students participated in. In October, I had both my fourth grade and sixth grade classes participate in the FBI-SOS Internet Safety Challenge. My fourth graders came in first in their age group in the US which entitles them to a trophy and a visit from someone in the FBI to present it. Our presentation ceremony is scheduled for Nov. 22. We are all very excited about the honor. By the way, my sixth graders came in second in their age group. I am very proud of the hard work of all my students in this contest.

That was my week. I hope yours was filled with good books. Happy reading!

  11. I keep hearing how great Diana Wynne Jones is, but I've never read anything by her. I don't think I've even heard about Unexpected Magic, so I think you should read it and share your thoughts. :)
