Other Than Reading...

Happy Mother's Day!

I had a pretty quiet week. The weather was mostly sunny and warm (for Minnesota values of warm.) I had a sort of milestone this week when I drove my car for the first time since last Fall. I just went up to Cub Foods to shop and pick up a prescription, but I drove! It was maybe a five mile round trip.

This week will be a little more exciting since a friend of mine is coming to visit for a few days at the end of the week. We usually spend a lot of time talking and also go out to eat a few times. I'm looking forward to her visit. 

I have been keeping busy watching a lot of baseball. I've also been trying to concentrate on reading books from my review stack with some mixed results. I keep getting sidetracked. This week my excuse was that three books I had pre-ordered all arrived. Since I had been waiting for them for quite a while, I had to drop everything and read them, didn't I?

• The Emperor's Wolves by Michelle Sagara (Mine; Kindle & Audiobook) -- Reread of a book I reviewed a couple of years ago. 
• Midnight Dunes by Laura Griffin (Review; May 24) -- Third in a romantic suspense series. Entertaining characters but oh so many of them. My review will be posted on May 19.

• Kiss Hard by Nalini Singh (Mine) -- This is the fourth in a series and an entertaining contemporary romance set in New Zealand. My review will be posted on May 21.
• Heroic Hearts edited by Jim Butcher & Kerrie L. Hughes (Mine) -- I cherry-picked this anthology for stories by my favorite authors - Anne Bishop, Chloe Neill, Kelley Armstrong and Patricia Briggs. Since I didn't read it all, I won't be reviewing it.
• The Boardwalk Bookshop by Susan Mallery (Review; May 31) -- This is a contemporary story following the romantic relationships of three women who are joint leasers of a bookstore. Lots of emotional angst. My review will be posted on May 25.

• Sword and Shadow by Michelle Sagara (Mine; Kindle & Audiobook) -- Second book in the Emperor's Wolves series where we follow Severn Handred into the West March where he gets involved in Barrani politics and learns about his own mysterious past. My review will be posted on May 24.
• The Way to Glory by David Drake (Mine; Kindle & Audiobook) -- This is the fourth book in the Lt. Daniel Leary space opera series. It was fun to listen to. My review will be posted on May 24.
