It's Monday! What Are You Reading? (December 5, 2022)

It's Monday, What Are You Reading? is now hosted by Kathryn at The Book Date.

It’s Monday!  What Are You Reading is where we gather to share what we have read this past week and what we plan to read this week.  It is a great way to network with other bloggers, see some wonderful blogs, and put new titles on your reading list.

I will be combining my YA and adult reading and purchases on this one weekly roundup.

Other Than Reading...

This was a nice quiet week. I did get to my appointment last Tuesday even though it snowed all day. The rest of the week included really cold weather and really windy weather too. The wind did manage to clear the snow off our driveway and some of our solar panels.

I took advantage of Cyber Monday to buy myself a new kindle. I should be getting a Kindle Paperwhite with a leather cover this coming week. The wireless charging dock won't be arriving until sometime between December 21 and December 29 though. This will be my sixth Kindle.

I wrote by monthly State of the Stack post which is one of the ways I keep track of review books.

November Report

I read 33 books in November and raised my Goodreads goal again. This is the last time I'm increasing it. I set it for 365 books. I'm currently at 351. Next year I plan to start it higher to begin the year.

My stats say I read 10,987 pages and listened for about 202 hours. CAWPILE only counts whole hours of audiobook listening which means I round down if the minutes are less that 30 and round up if they are over 30. I listened to 18 audiobooks in November.

Twenty-four of the books I read/listened to were mine. Nine were review books. Fourteen of the books I read/listened to were rereads.

I added 51 books to my LibraryThing account including 15 review books. I added 11 audiobooks by using 3 of my banked Audible Credits, shopping an Audible Sale, and using an Audible $10 coupon. I added one new audiobook from Chirp. I got three free Kindle books and 11 more that were less the $6 each.

Forty-two of my new books are still unread. My total TBR pile numbers 2464 which includes 53 unread review books. 1984 of my unread books are on my Kindle.

Read Last Week

If you can't wait until the review shows up on my blog, reviews are posted to LibraryThing and Goodreads as soon as I write them (usually right after I finish reading a book.)
  • Kris Longknife: Furious by Mike Shepherd (Mine) -- This tenth in a series has Kris a wanted criminal on almost every planet in the union her great-grandfather runs. She needs to find her grandfather who is determined to try to trade with the aliens Kris met in an earlier episode. My review will be posted on December 15.
  • Alpha and Omega by Patricia Briggs (Mine) -- I wanted to go back to the short story that introduced Anna Latham and Charles Cornick since there were so many references to their meeting in Wild Sign. It was in On the Prowl which I bought in 2007.
  • Cast in Eternity by Michelle Sagara (Kindle & Audiobook) -- This was a combined read/listen of the newest book in the Chronicles of Elantra. This one featured ghosts and a Barrani who wanted to rule the world. My review will be posted on December 10.
  • Vinyl Resting Place by Olivia Blacke (Review; December 27) -- This is the first of a new cozy series set in Texas. Three sisters have started a record shop and coffee shop but need to investigate a murder when a body is found in their storeroom after their Grand Opening. My review will be posted on December 17.
  • Bookclubbed to Death by V. M. Burns (Review; December 27) -- Bookstore owner and soon-to-be published author Sam Washington needs to find out who murdered hated book critic Delia Marshall whose body was left in Sam's bookstore. My review will be posted on December 20.
  • Wild Sign by Patricia Briggs (Mine; Audiobook) -- Latest in the Alpha and Omega series has Anna and Charles investigating an abandoned town illegally placed on some pack land in California. They run into black witches and an ancient god. My review will be posted on December 29.
Currently
  • Nine Liars by Maureen Johnson (Review; December 27)

  1. Maybe next year (as in a few weeks from now) I'll get more organized. I'm the worst with keeping track of my digital books.

  2. You have some great looking titles, and I am impressed by your reading totals.

I no longer participate in the Goodreads Challenge, as I get frustrated by the way they keep track of the numbers...not always accurate, IMO. LOL.

Enjoy your week! Here are my WEEKLY UPDATES

  3. Look at you go! You're a book-reading whiz. Quick question, do your Kindles not last or are you just looking for something new? I've been through three so far.

Hope you meet your new Goodreads goal! Thanks for sharing and for visiting my blog.

  5. I bought a new Kindle this week, too. I haven't had one since the very first one I bought.

I always set my Goodreads goal at 100. I figure anything over that is gravy. Good for you in setting your goal high.

  6. We've had windy weather too. It's been fluctuating cold and... not so cold ha. I'm having a hard time getting used to winter.

    Yay for the Paperwhite!

  7. Ooh nice! I still need to start Johnson's series. I guess I thought it was going to be a short one that I would binge, but now we're 5 books in and I still need to get going on that! I'm also behind on Darynda's series! I knew that would happen too somehow! Lol!

Hope you enjoy your lineup for this week!

    Here's my Monday Wrap-up

  9. I am glad you were able to make your appointment despite the snow. We've gotten a fair amount of wind here too. No snow though. I hope you love your new Kindle when it arrives!

I am looking forward to both Vinyl Resting Place and
Bookclubbed to Death. I look forward to reading your thoughts on them.

I hope you have a great week and enjoy your reading!

  10. You've reminded me I need to get on the hold list for Soul Taken. It's been a while since I read a Mercy Thompson book. I should probably also get a good start on Alpha & Omega. I can't remember if I've actually read one of those books or if I've only encountered a short story in a collection.

Congrats on such meeting such an astounding GoodReads goal!

  11. A Bad Day for Sunshine by Darynda Jones has been on my list for a while. I really want to try this series, but other things keep coming to the top of my list first.
