It's Monday, What Are You Reading? is a meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey.
It’s Monday! What Are You Reading, is where we gather to share what we have read this past week and what we plan to read this week. It is a great way to network with other bloggers, see some wonderful blogs, and put new titles on your reading list.
Last week I read:
Those are my plans for the week. What do you have planned?

Last week I read:
Within the Flames by Marjorie M. Liu which is the 11th Dirk & Steele book. It was an entertaining urban fantasy novel with two tortured characters. Lyssa was afraid to get close to anyone because of the evil witch who was after her. Eddie was determined to protect her because he hadn't been able to protect his sister from the human monster who killed her. There were lots of interesting characters and lots of tension. My review is here.
Ignite (Midnight Fire Series, Book One) by Kaitlynn Davis was a self-published novel I accepted for review. While it could have used more copy-editing, the story was entertaining and the new twist the author had for the tried and true vampire novel made the novel something out of the ordinary. I liked the characters and look forward to more from this author. My review will be posted on Ms. Martin Teaches Media on Monday.
I am currently reading an historical romance - The Other Guy's Bride by Connie Brockway. I really like the story so far about the young Englishwoman who is "forthright, ingenuous, and outspoken" and a hero who looks like a ruffian and who has secrets of his own.
Next week's list will look a lot the same as last week's (and the week before too). My reading rate has slowed to a crawl lately. Goodreads tells me that I am 3 books behind on making my 2011 reading goal. I remember at one point this summer being 10 books ahead.
8: The Previously Untold Story of the Previously Unknown 8th Dwarf by Michael Mullin and Kaptain Vamp by Joanne Lecuyer both have the benefit of being short. The first is a novel in verse and the second is a skinny, middle grade title.
Ties to the Blood Moon by Robin P. Waldrop is another young adult paranormal that I accepted from the author for review.
I really want to read The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater but know that it won't be a fast read. Stiefvater has a way of drawing me into a story that makes me want to savor it rather than gulp it.
I've been hearing a lot of good things about that Connie Brockway book. I haven't read anything by her before but I'm glad you are enjoying it. I may have to check it out sometime. I want to read The Scorpio Races too but I won't read it till next year. Have a great week and happy reading :)
