Friday Memes: Murder of Crows by Anne Bishop

"Happy Friday everybody!
Book Beginnings on Friday is now hosted by Rose City Reader. The Friday 56 is hosted at Freda's Voice. Check out the links above for the rules and for the posts of the participants each week. Don’t dig for your favorite book, the coolest, the most intellectual. Use the CLOSEST.

This week I am spotlighting Murder of Crows by Anne Bishop. This is the second book in her Others Urban Fantasy series. Here is the description from Amazon:
After winning the trust of the Others residing in the Lakeside Courtyard, Meg Corbyn has had trouble figuring out what it means to live among them. As a human, Meg should be barely tolerated prey, but her abilities as a cassandra sangue make her something more.

The appearance of two addictive drugs has sparked violence between the humans and the Others, resulting in the murder of both species in nearby cities. So when Meg has a dream about blood and black feathers in the snow, Simon Wolfgard—Lakeside’s shape-shifting leader—wonders if their blood prophet dreamed of a past attack or a future threat.

As the urge to speak prophecies strikes Meg more frequently, trouble finds its way inside the Courtyard. Now, the Others and the handful of humans residing there must work together to stop the man bent on reclaiming their blood prophet—and stop the danger that threatens to destroy them all.
Nudged awake by his bedmate's restless movements, Simon Wolfgard yawned, rolled over on his belly, and studied Meg Corbyn.
Friday 56:
"Our Meg says? But...shinies, Simon."

"It's bait." And he was going to find out who had baited those trash cans. "Do you understand, Jenni? It's a trap!"

  1. Anne Bishop is on my authors to try list. I've heard great things about her books. I'm curious about the 56. I'd definitely like to know more about what's going on!

  2. This does sound like a fascinating the cover, too! Thanks for sharing, and here's mine: “EVERYONE WORTH KNOWING”

  3. The p56 Simon is speaking to Meg and calling her Jenni. Makes me wonder if she is undercover or has lied to him for some reason. Or maybe Jenni is her identical twin and he's mixed them up. So many possibilities!

  4. I have this on my tbr - I hope you like it.

  5. Sounds interesting.
    Happy weekend!

  6. shinies! Poor Crows. Good book, excellent series.

  7. I love Anne's books and have several. This will be on my wish list now.
