It's Monday! What Are You Reading? (March 9, 2020)

It's Monday, What Are You Reading? is now hosted by Kathryn at The Book Date.

It’s Monday!  What Are You Reading is where we gather to share what we have read this past week and what we plan to read this week.  It is a great way to network with other bloggers, see some wonderful blogs, and put new titles on your reading list.

I will be combining my YA and adult reading and purchases on this one weekly roundup.

Other Than Reading...

This was a wonderfully sunny week until Thursday when it snowed most of the day. This weekend is supposed to have temperatures in the 40s which will melt the new snow and some of the old snow too. We have already produced twice the power we produced last month and still have eleven days left in this billing period. I can't wait to see our next electric bill!

I went car shopping on Friday and traded in my Outback for a 2020 Subaru Crosstrek. I never felt comfortable driving the Outback because it was so big. This time I chose the smallest Subaru and cut 15 inches from the length of my car. Since I drove so few miles over the 2 and 1/2 years I had the Outback, I decided to lease this time. It cut my car payment almost in half. I hope I enjoy driving it more. I only drove 4800 miles in the time I had the Outback. With my lease I can drive 10,000 miles a year before paying extra. I just hope I get to 10,000 in the three-year lease period.

My brother and I had our taxes done on Friday morning. I am getting a really big refund since we qualify for the tax credit on our solar install. My brother has carry-over with his solar credit that will likely eliminate his Federal taxes for the next two years and reduce his tax liability for the third year. He got a nice refund this year too.

Read Last Week

If you can't wait until the review shows up on my blog, reviews are posted to LibraryThing and Goodreads as soon as I write them (usually right after I finish reading a book.)

  • A Murderous Relation by Deanna Raybourn (Review; March 10) - This is the 5th Veronica Speedwell historical mystery. I liked it. My review was posted on March 5.
  • Accepting the Lance by Sharon Lee & Steve Miller (Mine; audiobook) - I enjoyed listening to this most recent book in the Liaden Universe. I won't be reviewing this one since I already did when the print book was released.
  • Revolver Road by Christi Daugherty (Review; March 10) - This thriller was third in a series I hadn't yet started but I didn't feel I'd missed anything. The story was fast-paced and exciting. My review was posted on March 4.

  • The Queen's Bargain by Anne Bishop (Review; March 10) - This is the 12th book in the author's Black Jewels series and was an entertaining episode. My review was posted on March 7.
  • The Gate That Locked the Tree by Sharon Lee & Steve Miller (Mine) - This novella takes place on Surebleak during a blizzard. My review will be posted on March 10.
  • Moontangled by Stephanie Burgis (Mine) - This novella is the third in the Harwood Spellbook series of novellas and features a lesbian romance. My review will be posted on March 17.

DNF

  • Frozen Beauty by Lexa Hillyer (YA; Review; March 17) - I quit this one quite early because it was too poetic for me.

Currently

  • Cross Her Heart by Melinda Leigh (Review; March 17) is the first in a new thriller series which introduces new characters. It is exciting and fast-paced.

Next Week

These are all mine and are a mix of new arrivals and books that have spent quite a bit of time on TBR mountain.

  1. We are being slowly grilled in the heat in Colombo which shows no signs whatsoever of abating. I am green with envy when people say its cold out there.

  8. Wow! That’s a lot of reading! Thank you for stopping by my blog this morning. I listened to One of Us Is Lying and thought it was good. I didn’t realize that Revolver Road wasn’t a stand-alone book.

I liked One Of Us Is Lying quite a bit and I need to try the Raybourn books here soon.
