It's Monday! What Are You Reading? (April 4, 2022)

It's Monday, What Are You Reading? is now hosted by Kathryn at The Book Date.

It’s Monday!  What Are You Reading is where we gather to share what we have read this past week and what we plan to read this week.  It is a great way to network with other bloggers, see some wonderful blogs, and put new titles on your reading list.

Other Than Reading...

This was another quiet week with three inches of snow in the middle of it. I read, watched Spring Training baseball, looked back at last month's reading, and planned my May reading calendar.

This coming week the baseball games begin to count, and we are expecting more snow. I plan to concentrate on reading the review books on my stack that are being released in May since I have 14 of them.

March Reading Report

I read 33 books in March including 16 audiobooks and 13 review books. I DNFd one book. I read 11,938 pages and listened for about 200 hours. Seven books were rereads. I read The Others series again. Two of the books were from my TBR pile. My "Added in 2008" collection is down to 21 books since I also discarded a couple that didn't interest me anymore.

I added 58 books to my collection in March including 22 audiobooks and 25 review books. 44 are still on the TBR pile. My total collection (print books, ebooks, and audiobooks) on LibraryThing numbers 8,271 books. My TBR pile totals 2391 which includes 48 review books.

Here's my March State of the Stack post which is one of the ways I keep track of review books read, reviewed, and received.

Read Last Week

If you can't wait until the review shows up on my blog, reviews are posted to LibraryThing and Goodreads as soon as I write them (usually right after I finish reading a book.)
  • A Grave Talent by Laurie R. King (Kindle & Audiobook) -- This first Kate Martinelli introduces her and tells some of her background. The mystery has to do with kidnapped, strangled, and dumped little girls. My review will be posted on April 21.
  • Murder on Madison Square by Victoria Thompson (Review; May 3) -- This latest in the Gaslight Mysteries has Frank and Sarah attending the first auto show in Madison Square Garden and investigating the death of one of men financing an auto maker. My review will be posted on April 21.
  • To Play the Fool by Laurie R. King (Kindle & Audiobook) -- This second Kate Martinelli mystery has her and her partner looking into some deaths of homeless people and trying to interview a mysterious man who only speaks in quotations. My review will be posted on April 26.
  • With Child by Laurie R. King (Kindle & Audiobook) -- This third Kate Martinelli mystery has Kate searching for Jules who goes missing and who might be the next victim of a serial killer, My review will be posted on May 3.
  • Night Work by Laurie R. King (Kindle & Audiobook) -- This fourth Kate Martinelli mystery concerns female vigilantes who escalate from embarrassing pranks to murder. My review will be posted on May 10.
  • Mrs. Hudson and the Spirits' Curse by Martin Davies (Mine) -- This take on a Sherlock Holmes story brings Mrs. Hudson front and center and sees her as the investigative genius who gives Sherlock nudges in the right direction. My review will be posted on April 23.
  • Beginnings by Laurie R. King (Mine; Kindle & Audiobook) -- This novella takes Kate back to the impetus for her career as a homicide detective when she looks into the death of her younger sister back in 1983. I reviewed this one on LibraryThing and Goodreads.

  1. I haven't been able to watch any spring training games here. I'm considered out of market for my Yankees, but I'll be watching the real games later this week.

I hope you enjoy your books. I have a few of them on my list too. Have a great week!
