It's Monday, What Are You Reading? (April 4, 2011)

It's Monday, What Are You Reading? is a meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey.

It’s Monday!  What Are You Reading, is where we gather to share what we have read this past week and what we plan to read this week.  It is a great way to network with other bloggers, see some wonderful blogs, and put new titles on your reading list.

I had a pretty good reading week once I abandoned the plans I had made last week and went looking for books that appealed to me. I think that as long as I keep doing that I will keep my enthusiasm going. However, the stacks of review books are sort of guilting me out right now (averts eyes from pile).

Last week I read:
Breaking the Rules by Suzanne Brockmann which was the 16th in the Troubleshooters romantic suspense series. I loved both the suspense and the romance. My review will be posted on April 7.

How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf by Molly Harper was a fun, light romance about a young woman moving to Alaska and meeting a werewolf. There was some really great dialog in this one. I just loved Mo's snarky personality.
The Trouble with Spells by Lacey Weatherford is the first in the Of Witches and Warlocks young adult series. It was also a fun book to read in a very Twilight sort of way. I think teens will really love it but sometimes my inner adult got in the way.

The Demon Kiss by Lacey Weatherford is the second in the Of Witches and Warlocks series and continues the adventure. Again, great for teens, less so for adults.

I am currently reading:
The Art of Seducing a Naked Werewolf by Molly Harper is also a light, fun werewolf romance.

Next week:

I am not making any plans. I currently have 1036 books marked To Read at LibraryThing. I bet I'll be able to find something that I really want to read with that number in piles around my house or on my Kindle.

Later on this week I will be attending the Spotlight on Books Conference in Grand Rapids, MN. My friend and I will be leaving here Thursday after school and driving up to Duluth for the night. I'll get a chance to see my brother for the first time since Christmas. The next day we will be driving to Grand Rapids. The conference runs from about noon on Friday until late afternoon on Saturday. Then we will be driving back home. While it should be a great conference, it will really cut into my reading time this week. Friday night and Saturday are my big reading days. Also, unless my new glasses arrive this week, my friend will be stuck with all the driving. I really, really want my new glasses!

What are your plans for the week?

  1. I know what you mean about the piles of review books. Sometimes I wish I could just read what I want when I want to. Even though I usually want to read my books for review and library books, some of the enjoyment is sucked out of it when I am reading a particular book because I need to finish it before the due date/expiration date.

I like the sound of those werewolf books. I need an Alaska book for my Where Are You Reading challenge so I'll have to look for that one from the library.

I hope you have a fantastic time at the book conference!

  2. You do indeed have a lot to choose from, enjoy picking you books this week. Have a wonderful week. My Monday:

  3. My friend Sara really likes werewolf books I will have to suggest these to her. Have fun at your conference!

  4. I don't plan my reading unless it's for school. Spring Break's over. I mostly read books for my project. Come see what I finished.

  5. Nice mix of books here. Enjoy the reads.

  6. LOL, the "Naked Werewolf" series does sound very lighthearted and enjoyable!
Wow, 1000+ books on your to-read list? I've only got half of that, now I don't feel as guilty as before xD
    Have a great week!

  7. The werewolf books look interesting! Will have to look into those!

    Here's my Monday wrapup

  10. A light and funny werewolf book might just grab me and carry me into that genre...maybe! LOL

You have some interesting choices this week. Enjoy!

  11. Seems like a long list of books to choose from - like you said i am sure you will find something! Have a great week :D

  12. The Naked Werewolf cover made me laugh... they remind me of the Nerd book series - I can not remember the authors name...

    Have a super week :)

  13. I'm glad you liked the Brockmann--I love that series! Hope you have a great conference. It sure sounds fun.
