Friday Memes: Fatal Affair by Marie Force

Happy Friday everybody!
Book Beginnings on Friday is now hosted by Rose City Reader. The Friday 56 is hosted at Freda's Voice. Check out the links above for the rules and for the posts of the participants each week. Don’t dig for your favorite book, the coolest, the most intellectual. Use the CLOSEST.

This week I am spotlighting Fatal Affair by Marie Force. This is the first book in the Fatal series and came out in 2010. I got this book for review from Amazon Vine. Here is the description:
Another scandal at Watergate, only this time it's murder...

Detective Sergeant Sam Holland of the Washington, D.C., Metro Police needs a big win to salvage her career--and her confidence--after a disastrous investigation. The perfect opportunity arises when Senator John O'Connor is found brutally murdered in his bed, and Sam is assigned to the case. Matters get complicated when Sam has to team up with Nick Cappuano, O'Connor's friend and chief of staff...and the man Sam had a memorable one-night stand with years earlier. Their sexual chemistry still sizzles, and Sam has to fight to stay focused on the case. Sleeping with a material witness is another mistake she can't afford--especially when the bodies keep piling up.
The smell hit him first.
Friday 56:
"He's been kind of..."
"What?" Sam asked, immediately on alert.
"Off. He hasn't been himself for the last few days."

  1. Love mystery series with detectives that have their own issues...this one sounds good! Enjoy!

Here's mine: “THE STORIES WE TELL”

  2. Ooh I wonder what kind of smell that is. I have a feeling probably not a good one... Also sleeping with a witness definitely doesn't sound like a good move! Thanks for sharing :) I hope you have a great weekend!

  3. I've had my eye on this series and was delighted to get a copy of this particular book at BEA last week from the Harlequin booth. It's now in my summer reading pile.

    My post:

  4. What a great opening sentence! I'd HAVE to read more. I like the dialogue in the 56 too. It sounds real -- the way people really talk. Sounds like there's plenty of internal and external conflict in this story too. Thanks for introducing me to this series.
My Friday post is here: WALLS FOR THE WIND.

  5. Sounds good! I've been looking at this series but haven't picked it up yet. Sounds like it'd be my kind of book. Thanks for sharing!

  6. I think I have that book somewhere...the cover and synopsis seem familiar.

  7. Smell? Dead body smell??

    Happy weekend!

  8. I have this on my kindle, waiting to be read. I'm curious about the smell mentioned in the beginning. I may move it up the TBR list.

  9. That's something to watch. When a person is kind of off for a few days, something is going on. Interesting.
