Friday Memes: Hour of Need by Melinda Leigh

Happy Friday everybody!
Book Beginnings on Friday is now hosted by Rose City Reader. The Friday 56 is now hosted by Freda's Voice. Check out the links above for the rules and for the posts of the participants each week.

Don’t dig for your favorite book, the coolest, the most intellectual. Use the CLOSEST.

This week I am spotlighting Hour of Need by Melinda Leigh. This is Leigh's newest romantic suspense title. I received the eARC from the author for review. Here is the description:
While fighting in Afghanistan, Major Grant Barrett receives devastating news: his brother and sister-in-law have been murdered in Scarlet Falls, the sleepy suburb of Grant’s youth. Emotionally scarred from war, the career soldier returns home on emergency leave to temporarily care for his orphaned nephew and niece. But when someone tries to kidnap the kids and their teenage babysitter, Grant knows it’s not a random act…and neither were the murders.

Already devastated by her neighbors’ violent deaths, Ellie Ross is shattered by the attempted abduction of her teenage daughter so she desperately turns to Grant for help. As they navigate a deadly search for the truth, they struggle with growing feelings for each other and Grant’s impending return to Afghanistan.

But time is running out. The killer is growing bolder by the hour, and Ellie and Grant must find him before the children become his next victims.

Bestselling author Melinda Leigh delivers another gritty mystery simmering with spine-tingling passion in this first Scarlet Falls novel.
Tonight's celebration felt as hollow as Lee's confidence.
Friday 56:
Grant paused to read the medicine labels: the usual concoction of fluids, antibiotics and steroids. The Colonel's white hair was clean and combed, and the bed linens appeared fresh.

  1. I have a mystery this week too. Mine is one from Amazon Vine so if you have time go over and check it out.

  2. I love this author's work, but haven't yet read this one. It is on my list!

Thanks for sharing...and here's mine: “WALKING ON TRAMPOLINES”

  3. This author is new to me, but I like the sound of this book. Love mysteries, especially with romance.
My Friday post features HIDE IN PLAIN SIGHT.

  4. I haven't heard of this author but the premise sounds like it'd be quite a ride. I like the beginning and am curious about the 56. Hope this is a great read!

  5. I'm curious about the cover, it leads me to think it's a mystery inside. The snippets add to that notion greatly!
    Happy weekend!
