It's Monday! What Are You Reading? (April 8, 2019)

It's Monday, What Are You Reading? is now hosted by Kathryn at The Book Date.

It’s Monday!  What Are You Reading is where we gather to share what we have read this past week and what we plan to read this week.  It is a great way to network with other bloggers, see some wonderful blogs, and put new titles on your reading list.

I will be combining my YA and adult reading and purchases on this one weekly roundup.

Other Than Reading...

This was another quiet week. I began reading the Monkeewrench series by P. J. Tracy which are mysteries set in Minnesota and Wisconsin (so far). I read the first four which will be reviewed on Sundays. I had those basic reviews set up. I'll read the next four once I have the June posts set up. I have finished all of my April reviews and filled my April calendar. I am beginning the books I slotted in on my May calendar.

I heard a sample of the audiobook of Wild Country by Anne Bishop and decided to buy it and Lake Silence too. I finished listening to Wild Country while I was playing my computer games this week and have begun listening to Lake Silence. I don't usually listen to audiobooks but thought these would work for me because I was already familiar with the stories. After I finish Lake Silence, I think I'll try one of the many audiobooks that I have saved on my iTunes. I also got an email this week listing the audiobooks that will be part of this year's SYNC free audiobooks. Quite a few of them sounded like books I would enjoy.

Read Last Week

If you can't wait until the review shows up on my blog, reviews are posted to LibraryThing and Goodreads as soon as I write them (usually right after I finish reading a book.)

  • Below the Fold by R. G. Belsky (Review; May 7) - Interesting mystery starring a TV News producer who was a former investigative reporter. My review will be posted on May 2.
  • Monkeewrench by P. J. Tracy (mine) - Technothriller set in Minnesota. My review will be posted on May 5.
  • Live Bait by P. J. Tracy (mine) - Second Monkeewrench mystery has interesting characters and an intriguing plot. My review will be posted on May 12.
  • Dead Run by P. J. Tracy (mine) - Third Monkeewrench mystery. My review will be posted on May 19.
  • Snow Blind by P. J. Tracy (mine) - Fourth Monkeewrench mystery. My review will be posted on June 9.
  • Wild Country by Anne Bishop (mine) - This is the audiobook of a book I reviewed this week. I liked the story but wished that there had been dual narrators because I don't feel the female narrator did very good male voices. I was also a little confused when all the Sanguinati sounded like Bela Legosi when in the books only the oldest vampire has that sort of accent.

Next Week
  • Aurora Rising by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff (YA Review; May 7)
  • Spark by Sarah Beth Durst (YA Review; May 14)
  • Shadowblack by Sebastien De Castell (mine)

Want to See What I Added to My Stack Last Week?

Bought:

I decided that I needed the Kindle versions of the Monkeewrench series after reading the first few pages of the paperback that has been sitting on my TBR mountain since 2012. I got the first five in paperback at that time.

  11. Audiobooks are hit or miss for me. I think it's all dependent on the narrator. I haven't started the new spin off from Ann Bishop. I've heard they are really good, but I'm waiting a little bit so that I can read them all without having to wait for each new book to come out.

  12. You certainly are trucking along. I don't think I've read anything by Tracy. I'll have to check out those books.

Hope you had a great week. Thanks for visiting my blog last Monday.
