Burn for Me
Author: Ilona Andrews
Narrator: Renee Raudman
Publication: HarperAudio (Oct. 28, 2014)
Length: 12 hours and 46 minutes

Description: Number-one New York Times best-selling author Ilona Andrews launches a brand-new Hidden Legacy series, in which one woman must place her trust in a seductive, dangerous man who sets off an even more dangerous desire.

Nevada Baylor is faced with the most challenging case of her detective career - a suicide mission to bring in a suspect in a volatile situation. Nevada isn't sure she has the chops. Her quarry is a Prime, the highest rank of magic user, who can set anyone and anything on fire.

Then she's kidnapped by Connor "Mad" Rogan - a darkly tempting billionaire with equally devastating powers. Torn between wanting to run and wanting to surrender to their overwhelming attraction, Nevada must join forces with Rogan to stay alive.

Rogan's after the same target, so he needs Nevada. But she's getting under his skin, making him care about someone other than himself for a change. And, as Rogan has learned, love can be as perilous as death, especially in the magic world.

My Thoughts: This is the first book in the Hidden Legacy urban fantasy series. It stars Nevada Baylor who runs a private investigation firm with her family. She is part of the magical world but her magical talent and strength is secret. When her father was dying, she mortgaged her business to a rival and much larger firm to get the money for the experimental treatment he needed. Now, MII is calling in its marker and Nevada is assigned a case that is way out of her depth.

Baylor Investigations has made its name with insurance work and tracking cheating spouses. Trying to locate a Prime whose talent is for fire is way outside what they have done in the past. Nevada's target is spoiled and crazy and he isn't working alone.

Connor "Mad" Rogan is also looking for the same man as a favor for his cousin whose young son has gotten involved with him. Rogan made his name fighting wars in Central America and is an incredibly powerful Prime. Unfortunately, he decides to kidnap Nevada to find out what she knows and comes to realize that she isn't a pushover. He becomes attracted to her but she, rightly, can't get over the fact that he kidnapped her. She is both incredibly attracted to him and wary of him.

Nevada and Mad Rogan need to work together to stop the man and find that he is just one part of a much bigger conspiracy.

The story was action packed and the narrator succeeded in conveying all the intensity of the story. I liked the way she portrayed each character. I especially liked the way she showed Nevada's devotion to her family.

I bought this one. You can buy your copy here.
