It's Monday! What Are You Reading? (August 2, 2021)

It's Monday, What Are You Reading? is now hosted by Kathryn at The Book Date.

It’s Monday!  What Are You Reading is where we gather to share what we have read this past week and what we plan to read this week.  It is a great way to network with other bloggers, see some wonderful blogs, and put new titles on your reading list.

I will be combining my YA and adult reading and purchases on this one weekly roundup.

Other Than Reading...

This week has included a lot of baseball on television and staying inside to avoid the poor air quality caused by fires in Canada.

The only thing on the calendar for next week is going out to dinner on my birthday with my brother. We're going to Texas Roadhouse because I got a birthday coupon in my email. He hasn't been there for a couple of years between heart surgery, healthy eating, and Covid restrictions. I was there last week, but it's my favorite restaurant and I'd go once a week if it was healthier.

July Report

I read or listened to 31 books in July. I listened to 19 audiobooks and read 9 review books. Total pages for the month were 10,910. I read three books that have been on my TBR stack for more than a year. In fact, one was from 2008 and a second was from 2010.

I added 53 books to my LibraryThing collection this month including 31 audiobooks and 11 review books. Forty are still on my TBR stack.

Read Last Week

If you can't wait until the review shows up on my blog, reviews are posted to LibraryThing and Goodreads as soon as I write them (usually right after I finish reading a book.)
  • Archangel's Kiss by Nalini Singh (Mine; Audiobook) -- This is the second book in the Guild Hunter series and deals with Elena getting used to being an angel. I reviewed it way back on May 8, 2010. This time I listened to the Audiobook.
  • Striking Range by Margaret Mizushima (Review; September 7) -- This is the fifth in the Timber Creek K-9 series and was fast-paced and filled with action. My review will be posted on September 1.
  • Archangel's Consort by Nalini Singh (Mine; Audiobook) -- This is the 3rd book in the Guild Hunter series and has Elena and Raphael back in New York and dealing with the problems caused by an ancient one reawakening. I first reviewed it January 29, 2011. This time I enjoyed the Audiobook.
  • Second Sight by Amanda Quick (Mine - Reread) -- The first Arcane Society story is romantic suspense with paranormal activity set late in the reign of Queen Victoria. I reviewed this one on LibraryThing and Goodreads.
  • A Fire in the Night by Christopher Swann (Review; September 7) -- Great thriller with lots of action and intriguing characters. My review will be posted on September 2.
  • Tinker by Wen Spencer (Mine) -- Urban fantasy with a girl genius, elves, oni, and a Pittsburgh that shifts between Earth and Elfhome at regular intervals. My review will be posted on August 31.
DNF
  • Designs on the Dead by Emilia Bernhard -- Too much a tour of Paris and too little a mystery for me.

  9. You had an amazing reading month! I'm sorry to hear about the air quality. We even had warnings in CT as a result of the wildfires... so sad. Hope you have a very happy birthday and enjoy your special dinner.

  10. Ooh the Roadhouse sounds fun. We go to Logan's a lot but I've only been to Texas once.

You'll Be The death of Me is one I'm really looking forward to.

  11. It seems like wildfires and/or the smoke is affecting most of the country right now. Even in Alaska, we were getting smoke from fires in Siberia! Ugh.

I liked The Aeronaut's Windlass. You reminded me to look for the sequel but I see that it hasn't been published yet.

    Enjoy your week!
