It's Monday! What Are You Reading? (August 23, 2021)

It's Monday, What Are You Reading? is now hosted by Kathryn at The Book Date.

It’s Monday!  What Are You Reading is where we gather to share what we have read this past week and what we plan to read this week.  It is a great way to network with other bloggers, see some wonderful blogs, and put new titles on your reading list.

I will be combining my YA and adult reading and purchases on this one weekly roundup.

Other Than Reading...

Still another quiet week. The Delta variant is keeping me close to home. Case numbers are increasing in my county. This was quite a hot week and the air is smoky from nearby forest fires which kept me indoors. I did walk on my treadmill in order to get some exercise.

I had a nice visit with my gastroenterologist who is happy with my weight loss and test numbers. I'm not happy with my current weight and need to pay more attention to exercising and snacking. There have been way too many snacks in my life lately.

It has been a good week for baseball games since my team is on a winning steak. I am also enjoying my time rereading the Guild Hunter series.

Read Last Week

If you can't wait until the review shows up on my blog, reviews are posted to LibraryThing and Goodreads as soon as I write them (usually right after I finish reading a book.)
  • Betrayal on the Bowery by Kate Belli (Review; October 12) -- The second book in the Gilded Gotham mystery series was another nice historical mystery. My review will be posted on October 5.
  • In Hot Water by Kate Kingsbury (Review; October 12) -- First in a new cozy series set in a small town and starring the owner of a tea shop. My review will be posted on October 6.
  • Digging Up Trouble by Kitt Crowe (Review; October 12) -- First in a new cozy series starring a bookstore owner with a cute dog. My review will be posted on October 7.

  1. I'm glad your gastroenterologist is happy with your improvements. It sounds like you feel motivated to make a few more changes.

We've been trying to get up early to walk, but the traffic at the high school this morning was abysmal.

Digging Up Trouble, with a bookstore owner with a dog? Sounds fantastic!

  2. You always have a great week of reading.

Have been walking early in the morning or late at night. Very muggy here, but I’m not complaining. Would rather have heat than freezing temperatures.

Great on your check up with the gastroenterologist. Snacking is difficult to resist. :)

    Have a good week.

  3. Congrats on the weight loss and test numbers. It's hard for me to stay motivated while walking on the treadmill... I seem to get bored much more quickly. Good for you for sticking to it! Enjoy your books this week.

  4. Man, Delta is keeping us on our toes, isn't it? Terrible the way it's spreading like wildfire. I'm trying to avoid going out any more than necessary too.

Your books as usual look good! Nice mix.....

  5. Congrats on your weight loss. I've been trying and not getting anywhere. In Hot Water looks good. I love first books in cozy mystery series. I haven't heard of this one.

Hope you have a great week!

  6. Congrats on the weight loss! That's awesome! I've been trying to watch what I eat as well and naturally after a carefree weekend with family, I feel like I made a major setback!

Nice lineup! I am so behind on the Guild Hunter series! I need to get caught up in that! Hope you enjoy your reads for this week!

    Here's my Monday Wrap-up

  8. I agree with Laurel-Rain, such a wide variety of reading! I hadn't heard of the two books by Gail Carriger. I was partway through her Parasol Protectorate books on audio and stopped for some reason. Same with Nalini Singh's angel series!

  9. Congratulations on making your gastro doc happy! And how terrible about the forest fires making the air smoky. Sometimes it feels like everything is conspiring to keep us indoors and away from our healthy habits.

You've reminded me I need to finish Carriger's Custard Protocol series and then move on to some of her other work. I loved her Parasol Protectorate and Finishing School series.

    Enjoy your week!

  11. I sure admire your re reading the Guild Hunter series. I idly dream about rereading series but never do it. I think I get side tracked by quilting. I am looking forward to the latest book though. Those smoky fires are to be avoided for sure. All the best with that snacking!

  12. I totally understand your snacking struggles. I snack way more when I am home than on the road. That's one reason I go to my office.

Great books this week. Mercy Creek arrived in my mailbox this week. Hope you enjoy it. Thanks for sharing and for visiting my blog last week.
