Friday Memes: Born to Be Wild by Christine Warren

Happy Friday everybody!!

Book Beginnings

Book Beginnings on Friday is a meme hosted by Becky at Page Turners. Anyone can participate; just share the opening sentence of your current read, making sure that you include the title and author so others know what you're reading. If you like, share with everyone why you do, or do not, like the sentence.

Thank you to Rose City Reader for sparking the idea for this meme. On Rose City Reader you will find 'Opening Sentences of the Day' so please have a look at this wonderful blog for further opportunities to share opening sentences.

The Friday 56

Rules:
  • Grab the book nearest you. Right now.
  • Turn to page 56.
  • Find the fifth sentence.
  • Post that sentence (plus one or two others if you like) along with these instructions on your blog or (if you do not have your own blog) in the comments section of Storytime with Tonya and Friends.
  • Post a link along with your post back to Storytime with Tonya and Friends.
  • Don’t dig for your favorite book, the coolest, the most intellectual. Use the CLOSEST.

Born to Be Wild
Author: Christine Warren
Publication: St. Martin's Paperbacks; Original edition (March 2, 2010)

First Sentence: Dr. Josephine Barrett had just flipped off the lights in her triage area when a low, heavy pounding thundered at the clinic's back door. So much for the novel experience of eating her pizza while it was still hot.

Page 56, Sentence 5:
He held up a large white bag and offered a casual smile.

I have read the other books in this series and am eager to have time to read this during my Spring Break this weekend.

  5. It's alright I suppose, doesn't grab me like I like a first line too though. Seems a bit like the book is starting in the middle of the action - I prefer a bit of lead up I think.
