It's Monday! What Are You Reading? (Dec. 16, 2019)

It's Monday, What Are You Reading? is now hosted by Kathryn at The Book Date.

It’s Monday!  What Are You Reading is where we gather to share what we have read this past week and what we plan to read this week.  It is a great way to network with other bloggers, see some wonderful blogs, and put new titles on your reading list.

I will be combining my YA and adult reading and purchases on this one weekly roundup.

Other Than Reading...

It has been another snowy week here in northern Minnesota. As of the news on Friday night, we had received almost 48 inches of snow thus far this season and it was snowing as the news was being broadcast. I'm already quite tired of snow. I know I haven't taken my car out of the garage since all this snow began.

This coming week is my brother's last at cardio rehab. He's planning to go back to work the week after Christmas. That is going to cut into both of our exercise routines. I offered to buy him a membership at the YMCA for his Christmas gift but he is wondering if he'll be able to use it as much as he would like. His work schedule changes from day to day and week to week and he isn't the sort of person to get up early to go exercise before he goes off to work. We'll have to see what his work schedule is like.

I am still in a sort of reading slump when all I want to do is reread old favorites. I have been working away at my January review books but not reading much else from my TBR pile.

Read Last Week

If you can't wait until the review shows up on my blog, reviews are posted to LibraryThing and Goodreads as soon as I write them (usually right after I finish reading a book.)

  • Redshirts by John Scalzi (Mine since June 5, 2012) - I finally chose this story by Scalzi to get it off my TBR mountain. I enjoyed this Hugo Award winning science fiction story and was pleased to see that I had an autographed copy. My review will be posted on Dec. 21.
  • Written in Red by Anne Bishop (Mine - reread)
  • Unspeakable Things by Jess Lourey (Review; Jan. 1) - This thriller is set in Minnesota during the 1980s. The author was inspired by a child kidnapping that blanketed the news for months and wasn't resolved until twenty-seven years later. My review will be posted on Dec. 26.

  • The Woman in the Veil by Laura Joh Rowland (Review: Jan, 7) - This is the 4th in the Victorian Mystery series. I'm enjoying the time period and the characters in this series. My review will be posted on Dec. 31.
  • Murder of Crows by Anne Bishop (Mine - reread)

  5. 48 inches already- wow. Welcome to winter huh? We got a little dusting but that's about it, but it still managed to make the roads slippery. Glad to hear your brother is recovering well.

  13. I'm imagining all that snow. It's cold here today, but it was in the low seventies and sunny all last week. Winters are wonderful in Texas.

I hope you get out of your slump. I'm slumping a bit, too.

Good luck with your brother. Let's hope he will be able to find a good exercise regimen.
