Review: The Accidental Werewolf by Dakota Cassidy

The Accidental Werewolf
Author: Dakota Cassidy
Publication: Berkley Trade (February 5, 2008)

Description: When Marty Andrews gets bitten by a mangy mutt while walking her teacup poodle, her blond hair darkens, the hair on her legs starts growing at an alarming rate, and her mood swings put her dream job as a sales rep for Bobbie- Sue Cosmetics in serious jeopardy.

Then a drool-worthy man shows up at her door claiming that he accidentally bit Marty. And since he's a werewolf, she is now, too. Thinking Keegan Flaherty is clearly insane, Marty refuses to believe a word until a kidnapping makes her realize there's more at stake than just her highlights. And she must put her out-of-control life in the hands of the man who makes her blood run wild in more ways than one...

My Thoughts: At first I wasn't at all sure what I thought about this book. The main character was such a space cadet but I hung in there. Marty was in shock! Well, really! You get bit by a strange dog rescuing him from your teacup poodle and the next you know your hair is getting darker, your legs getting hairier and you are experiencing anger issues. Wouldn't you be too?

Marty is determined to find a way to deny and rationalize these changes when Keegan Flaherty shows up to tell her he bit her and is sorry and ready to help her adjust. She is alternately intrigued by Keegan and annoyed with him but he is determined to help her adjust to being a werewolf and to finding out who is trying to kill her. She is the mate he has been looking for.

Marty is happy with the life she has. She is a salesperson for Bobbie-Sue Cosmetics and she is driven to win the baby blue convertible. She is totally goal-oriented and doesn't want to be derailed by anything. Not even turning into a werewolf.

However, the werewolf pack and especially the woman Keegan was supposed to choose as his mate don't accept her. Her rival at Bobbie-Sue is stealing her accounts. And someone is trying to kill her too. Her life is changed.

This was a very funny book. Marty had a remarkable way with words and the situations were funny.

I recommend this book to lovers of humorous books.

Favorite Quote:
No, no, and no again. She didn't want to know. See no evil, hear no evil. Marty rather liked this protective cocoon she had spun. It was a warm and lovely shade of ignorant.

  3. I loved this book too! I think once you got the snark and the fact that yes we would all be shell shocked if that happened to us, there were many laugh out loud moments.
