It's Monday, What Are You Reading? July 5, 2010

It's Monday, What are you reading is a meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey

It’s Monday!  What Are You Reading, is where we gather to share what we have read this past week and what we plan to read this week.  It is a great way to network with other bloggers, see some wonderful blogs, and put new titles on your reading list.

This is what I finished last week:
Insatiable by Meg Cabot - This is Meg Cabot's take on the whole vampire thing.

The Red Pyramid - Rick Riordan has started a new series for middle graders that is based on Egyptian mythology. This was an exciting adventure.

Knightley Academy by Violet Haberdasher is another middle grade book. It was similar to Harry Potter but without the magic.

The Time Weaver by Shana Abe was the fifth book in her Drakon series. This was a complex and well-written  fantasy.
Other by Karen Kincy is a YA paranormal mystery with various shapeshifters. Ms. Kincy is a 2010 YA Debut Author. This review is scheduled for early Monday morning.

Blood Feud by Alyxandra Harvey is the second book in the Drake Chronicles. The is also a YA paranormal with vampires.

What I am currently reading:
I am still working on A Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson. I have gotten to chapter 17.

Blood Song by Cat Adams is an adult paranormal. Here is the product description:
Bodyguard Celia Graves has definitely accepted her share of weird assignments, both human and supernatural. But her newest job takes the cake. Guarding a Prince from terrorists and religious fundamentalists is hard enough, but it seems like the entire supernatural world is after this guy too. When she is betrayed by those she is employed to help, and everything goes horribly wrong, Celia wakes to find herself transformed.

Neither human nor vampire, Celia has become an Abomination—something that should not exist—and now both human and supernatural alike want her dead. With the help of a few loyal friends—a sexy mage, a powerful werewolf, and a psychic cop—Celia does her best to stay alive. On the run from her enemies, Celia must try to discover who is behind her transformation…before it’s too late.

What I Plan to Read Next:

This past week I chose my next read by size. I picked the biggest books on my stack. I wanted the stack of TBR books to look smaller when i finished. This week I'm going to try the same thing. These are the biggest books on the pile nearest to me.

When the Wind Blows by James Patterson
All the Queen's Players by Jane Feather
Beautiful Malice by Rebecca James

Of course, I may change my mind if something really interesting shows up in my mailbox.

How was your week?

  10. I should be reading Beautiful Malice soon as well. I loved Blood Feud and really hope I get around to The Red Pyramid this month. Great reads and I'm glad you add your thoughts on them. I should probably start doing that because I never get reviews done the same week.

  14. I enjoyed your review of The Red Pyramid. The quote you picked was really funny. Do all cats really believe everything they see belongs to them ? :-)

  15. Hi Kathy. It looks like you had a really good week and I love the covers. :) I listened to the Bill Bryson book on Audible and that was fun.
I sort of avoid the bigger books because I feel like I can read more books if they are under 400 pages. There are a couple larger I have to get to though sooner or later.
