It’s Monday! What Are You Reading, is where we gather to share what we have read this past week and what we plan to read this week. It is a great way to network with other bloggers, see some wonderful blogs, and put new titles on your reading list.
I didn't get much reading done this week but what I did read was excellent. Our annual townhouse association meeting and a day of medical tests at the Mayo Clinic cut into my reading time. My day at Mayo did allow for a lot of walking though. This was the first day I broke 10,000 steps this year. Also all the test results were good and I don't need to return to the Clinic until next year.
This coming week will be less interrupted. However, Monday evening we have elementary Parent-Teacher conferences which will keep me at work from 7:30 AM until 7 PM. We do have Friday off this coming week to make up for the extra work time on Monday. I plan to spend Monday evening catching up on my correcting since I almost never see parents on conference nights and I am woefully behind an assessing my students' work.
Read Last Week
This was a week for reading sequels.
Shadow Scale by Rachel Hartman is the sequel to Seraphina which was a highly regarded young adult fantasy reease in 2012. Shadow Scale continues the story and was very engaging. The world building in amazing and the characters well-rounded. It was a huge book at 608 pages and a wonderful story. My review will be posted on March 11.
Bound by Flames by Jeaniene Frost is the third book in her Night Prince series. This paranormal romance is filled with action and excitement. It is also a great romance. My review will be posted on March 12.
Finally this week I read the newest Liaden Universe book - Dragon in Exile by Sharon Lee and Steve Miller. The eARC just became available for this June 2 release. I bought it from Baen and read it the same day. Fans of the series won't want to miss this exciting episode. My review will be posted on May 26.
Currently
I was halfway through Boys Don't Knit by T. S. Easton when I got Dragon in Exile. I set it aside to read the new arrival. I am enjoying Boys Don't Knit because of the voice of the narrator. He is a wonderfully, quirky character.
Next Week
The Dragon Conspiracy by Lisa Shearin in an urban fantasy that I am looking forward to. It is another story with a quirky narrator.
The Orphan Queen by Jodi Meadows is YA high fantasy that has been on the review stack since the end of August. It has finally reached the top since it will be released on March 10.
First Time in Forever by Sarah Morgan is also nearing the top of my review stack. This is an adult contemporary romance. I am on the Blog Tour on March 19.
Blackbird Fly by Erin Entrade Kelly is a middle grade contemporary from my review stack. It will be released on March 24.

- Since You've Been Gone by Mary Jennifer Payne
- I'll Meet You There by Heather Demetrios
- Deadly Obsession by Maggie Shayne
- Rule Breaker by Lora Leigh
You might have noticed that the books I plan to read next week are the same as last week. You might see them again next week too. The latest In Death - Obsession in Death - by J. D. Robb and The Ruby Circle by Richelle Mead are due to arrive this week. I don't know if I'll be able to resist reading them immediately despite the stack of review books I have and the full calendar.
What are your plans for the week? Leave me a link and I'll be sure to visit.
Oh nice! Glad I've waited to read Seraphina! Still need to read it though! lol. LOVED Bound by Flames! Hope you enjoy your reads for this week!

The Orphan Queen and First Time in Forever both look good! Thanks for stopping by my blog!
ReplyDeleteBoys Don't Knit looks interesting. I should broaden my horizons more and read novels outside my preferred genre of historical fiction.
